Ubifi Rural Internet Service - Sucks Now (It use to be a good option)

4 years of great internet now gone. We have used them and they were always great. Up until the big change they made over to REVGEN.
The 33229.mcs APN is what they told everyone to use. The AT&T broadband APN throttles at 10gb which is normal for AT&T Hotspot plans.
The price change from $90 to $120 a month is huge and close to other plans out there but with the speed change that came with it it is total crap now.
I would not recommend them anymore, I use to in the past to a lot of people that I know because they were one of the best now they are at the bottom of my list for rural internet providers.

When we first got Mofi we were delighted and purchased second one and disconnected from a hard line. we use it for our home in 32327 and the second on our boat in Maine and Florida. Since they sent new chips a few months ago and "new improved service" it has been unacceptable. My wife has spent hours on the phone with customer support and eventually even sent a new SIM card. It tripled the slow speed for a few hours, then back to the very slow speed. We are very frustrated . Now we are stuck with two Mofis and unacceptable and expensive service. Beware UbiFis claims - and don't get locked in!

How are things for you now? My download speed has been back up to 5-15mbps this week which is ok. But my upload is .1-.3 mbps, my home security cameras need over 1mbps so this has been frustrating still.

I officially jumped ship and closed my account with them. So far the new "carrier" (Still on the AT&T network) has been good, everything is back to normal in the 30-40mbps for both downloads and uploads. Giving it some time before I assume that they are good and will work consistently. I've also used 370GB of data in the past week and haven't run into any throttling yet.

Im currently being sent a new sim card for their new verizon plan. Supposed to be here tomorrow. Was told it is working much better than the at&t service and its 500GB instead of 300. A little more expensive but maybe it will work better. Will update when I change over.

I'm interested to see how that works out. I really did like them as a company. It would of been nice if that was brought up as option the last time I spoke with them. It has been a little over a week; so things might of changed in that time with what they can/will or did offer and/or have available.

@@coleterry4833 Good luck! I installed my new Verizon SIM card today and I can't get any internet connection whatsoever (I've been down since October 26th and I work from home, as well). This is the worst fiasco I've even experienced with a national company. They don't answer their phones or emails. Live chat has been turned off since October 26th. I have reset my MoFi numerous times and I'm dead in the water. Their directions are horrible. If you're not a techy, I'm sure those poor folks are pulling their hair out. If you can share your settings (complete ones) after you get your new SIM card, please share! Ubifi's are half-assed and incomplete. They don't even mention that your network will have to be renamed, encryption set, and who knows what else was left out. On their site, they also don't mention what happens when you max out your 500GB. Do they start throttling your data? Are you just cut off completely? I've written Ubifi numerous times (since they don't answer their phones) and radio silence.

Glad I didn't go that route, Verizon is horrible where I live. Its sad to think that in Alaska in the middle of the forest I had better internet than what I do now 20 miles from the closest city and I can see that cell tower if I stand on my roof. I stopped using their MoFi modem about 2 weeks after having their service and switched over to a Nighthawk M1100 which was a night and day difference in speed, connection, etc... Yeah they don't have to much information on their website or much of anything about what happens after the limit. I've done a lot of war driving in my day (back when 11b was hot stuff) so I've been a bit better off than most have with aiming antenna and over powering them to get a signal. Shot a wifi antenna through 10 miles of forest in Alaska. They force you to buy equipment that is old and out dated and sell it as enterprise equipment to make it sound better than it is. You don't need a MoFi router and their are much better cost effective solutions out, even if you purchased their SIM only/BYOD plan they wanted an IMEI number from a MoFi unit, total BS. Sorry about the rant but I will let you all know what happens in the future with all of this hot mess.

If you all have any issues let me know I might be able to help out or at least point you in a direction. 33229 APN they want everyone to use is owned by a different company and its a sudo VPN setup (as an overly simple explication of it) which is how they are currently getting around AT&T 10GB limit.
