Hi! Great video, very informative! I am about to get my Part 107 and am planning on opening a photography business. I'd greatly appreciate if you could answer some of the questions I had: 1. What is the purpose of using both P1 and L1? From my understanding the LiDAR camera is enough to provide Topographic Mapping, and connected with a satellite map like Google Earth, you can provide both the "sketches" but also 3d images of the places you took pictures of? 2. When setting up the RS2, you said you're connecting through hotspot because it allows you to connect to nearby antennas(network). My question is, what do you do if you are in the middle of nowhere and that is not a possibility? If there are no antennas nearby. Is that when you directly connect to the app and you have the RS2 receive/emit signals to the sattelites? 3. During GCP setup, you put those squares down, is that just a formality thing to make it visual and easier to learn, or what is the purpose of actually setting them down? 3b. What is the difference of you setting those squares down vs surveyors coming down and selecting points for you? Again, thanks for the video!

    1. P1 and L1 have both pros and cons, so you will have to choose the right sensor payload for your purpose. Not sure if I can explain them all here in the comment. Based on our experience, we got better 3D point clouds from P1 in most cases, but there are some cases where L1 will do much more consistent 3D point clouds, especially when you re flying over the forest. 2. If you don't have a cellular data connection, then you will have to do PPK (Post Processing Kinematic). You can use the closest CORS as your base to do the PPK. 3. We are setting our base station over the point where we don't know the exact coordinates. The reason why we use the portable target and survey these targets using RTK is to correct orthomosaic and DSM in the post-processing period. If you have a system that is bore-sight calibrated, then you may not need this process. 3b. Basically, the same. It does not matter whether you do the survey, or ask someone else to do the survey.

Great video. I am planning to buy M300 with EMLID RS2+ as base. Is it ok? Wil that be a cost saving

Yes, technically, that combination should work. You should be able to get more detail from the link ( docs.emlid.com/reachrs2/tutorials/integration/p4p-rtk/ ) on how to set up RS2+ as a base station.

@@9824pravin Based on our experience, DJI base-station is easiest to set up since it can communicate to M300 wireless without any network connection. I believe any GNSS receiver that can communicate to NTRIP server will work. EMLID provide a free service ( emlid.com/ntrip-caster/ ) to set up your own NTRIP caster, so you may want to check this out to see if your GNSS receiver would work.

Is it not possible to setup the emlid RS2 as the base station instead of the additional D-RTK2?

Yes, it is possible, but it requires more complicated setup. You can find more detail from the below link. docs.emlid.com/reachrs2/tutorials/integration/p4p-rtk/

@@samuelnonie6270 We haven't used RS2 as a base for M300, but it should work fine technically.
