DJI M300 RTK & ZENMUSE P1

Ғылым және технология

Check out our introduction video to the DJI M300 RTK paired with the Zenmuse P1 Payload. We tell you all about the M300 and our chosen payload the P1 and what they offer. We also show you the mapping capabilities of this drone along with the DJI terra software that allows you to create a life sized 3D map and carry out photogrammetry.
We will also be doing a video on the H20T payload and all that it offers very soon so keep an eye out for that down the line.
If you are interested in this drone or any others then please check out the link to our website down below.

    how do you cut the 3D model ? for example that house you were measuring the roof of, if i want to have the house only as a 3d model , can i use dji terra software to do so ?

    I am a researcher using drones to do photogrammetry. We are looking to get away from having to place ground reference points doing photogrammetry using an RTK drone. Our group has a Matrice 300 RTK that we bought principally for flying a ground penetrating radar and so we don't yet have a camera for the Matrice 300. To get RTK geotagged images, we are considering either buying DJI's P1 camera for the Matrice 300 or buying a new Mavic 3 Enterprise or a Mavic 3 multispectral drone. We like the portability of the Mavic 3's and they are cheaper than the P1, but we are impressed by the results of the P1 camera. Any thoughts?

    Good afternoon, Happy to advise professionally and properly via email - info@edinburghdronecompany.co.uk RTK enabled drones are a good way of removing GCP but to be honest, you will never get away from below 2 as it’s proof of data capture quality in our eyes. The p1 is a fantastic payload with double the pixels of the smaller drones. The smaller drones have benefits like weight and deployability. We have customers who want better data than the p1 so it’s all down to quality. What are your expectations? The Mavic 3e for example is the new benchmark for data capture. The m300 and p1 sits middle and then we have specialist payloads retail around 30-100k. Hope this helps and we are happy to organise a virtual meeting to discuss options. Thanks

    @@edinburghdronecompany Thanks for you input! Though I am a bit confused how the lower resolution camera of the Mavic 3 (20 mp) line can provide better results than the 45 mp P1 camera. Plus the Smart Oblique function of the P1 looks pretty nice at giving side views of various objects therefore likley providing nice 3D models. Is this function over-hyped?

    @@duguayjason - sorry, somehow I have confused you. Mavic 3e is industry base line mark. Then m300 and p1. We have specialist payloads from ShareUAV and phaseone above that.

    Two questions what was the GSD of the cliff face model? And do you just set the “Target Surface to Takeoff Point“ the same as the altitude, I don’t know what that is..

  • @edinburghdronecompany

    @edinburghdronecompany

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello, thanks for the questions. We keep our GSD around 1cm = 1 pixel approximately. Altitude from take off point and ground sample distance is height from area being surveyed I believe. Play with the target surface slider to change gsd and make sure around 1. Thanks

    @@edinburghdronecompany GSD (Ground Sampling Distance) is the length of a given side of a single pixel on the ground, another way to express the image scale. A function of the mean height above terrain, not to be confused with the altitude of the aircraft, which is the mean height above a given datum, usually a either geodetic datum or an ellipsoid height in UAV's. Suggest enrolling in a surveying degree. It's a great career and I am certain you would enjoy the course.

    @@edinburghdronecompany I didn't realise your business didn't offer services. Glad I could help! GSD is handy if you already know the detail accuracy you need pre flight, it can save a lot of time, especially when processing. A GSD of 0.5m might be handy for counting the number of pits if that's all you need to know but maybe 0.05m for imaging individual rocks say.

    @@brettjames9088 - appreciated! We supply, maintain, build and customise UAV’s up to 25kg. The m300 and p1 combination is one of our best selling combo’s. At the moment, our skill set lies in helping emergency services and first responders take on drones and then fly them to the expected level. We find it easier to introduce drones to surveyors, rather than training a drone pilot to be a surveyor. The beauty of drones is that we have a million and one uses… you can focus on surveying and mapping. I have to try and know a little about a lot and then I focus on what interests me… my true dream is to create a drone which is 100% built in the UK ( batteries, motors, pcb boards, the works). We are building towards this and sales of off the shelf platforms like DJI make this happen 👍 Have a look through some of our videos and hopefully some value in there. Our website is worth a look as well - www.edinburghdronecompany.co.uk Happy to admit, every days a school day in this industry but that’s why I like it.

    Do the batteries really recharge faster than what the drone uses them? and is it advisable to charge them immediately after depleting them?

  • @edinburghdronecompany

    @edinburghdronecompany

    Жыл бұрын

    It’s not advisable to keep them constantly either charging or in use no. You are correct. We rotate batteries, for example, if you want to fly 8 hours a day for commercial inspection work we advise 6-8 sets of batteries. This allows a health rotation of batteries. We use ours for demonstrations and fly 2 - 3 hours on days in use and we have 2 sets of batteries. We charge in between through battery station and electric power bank / petrol generator

    We do not offer the service of inspection, only supply of drones to commercial pilots can offer the service. We have various choices when sharing data. Some examples : Pix4d cloud, LP360 and drone deploy. Location of files: documents/DJI/DJITerra/username/ project name. DJI Terra saves files in various formats so make sure you have the correct file type saved, like OBJ

    How do the clients manage your deliverables, especially if they do not allow embedded chinese tech on their systems?

  • @edinburghdronecompany

    @edinburghdronecompany

    Жыл бұрын

    Most of our clients do not have any security concerns. The ones that do, we take off Chinese normally sticking by the American DOD blue chip approval list. We supply brands like Sensefly (ebee), parrot and brinc to consumers with security concerns. We also build for select clients to ensure the cycle is tight. Deliverables vary but Nira is one option. All our clients used different software ranging from drone deploy to pix4d. We also build custom software for clients with security concerns so it’s not one size fits all.

    why not L1 ? can You take pictures with L1 ? i am hesitsting between those two.

  • @edinburghdronecompany

    @edinburghdronecompany

    2 жыл бұрын

    Different system, the l1 is Lidar and was are showing photogrammetry. L1 - is a laser and creates point clouds for accurate data (sub 50mm). Yes you can pair with visible 1” sensor but we need as much detail as possible for 2D and 3d mapping. P1 - 48mp full frame for photos and gives better photographic results. The future will be a combination of Lidar and photo’s but technology isn’t at that level to have a full frame and high standard Lidar. We will do videos on Lidar systems as well. Keep an eye out for H20T payload video coming soon

  • @brettjames9088

    @brettjames9088

    The L1 does come with a camera - it's the same one that's on a phantom 4. LiDAR has the main benefits over photogrammetry of being able to penetrate dense vegetation, night time sensing and reflectivity measurement. It senses a different portion of the spectrum which can be useful in certain applications. The camera on the L1 is used to colour the point cloud but can be used for regular photogrammetry too.
