MY LETTER TO U2-1987 I saw you guys on the Joshua Tree tour in 1987 at MTSU-Middle Tennessee State University Saturday November 28th 1987. The Bodeans opened up for you. I remember at the time Larry had a crush on Wynonna Judd and she came out and sang a duo with Bono! I didn't have tickets to the show. A friend of mine drove us 3 hours from East Tennessee to see the show. We bought tickets at the box office for $18.50. We ended up 8th row center stage! I remember back then the band held back tickets for fans who were willing to make the drive and couldn't get tickets via phone or record store locations. Thanks again to Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr for making a special album and tour! I was 18 and had just graduated High School that year! All the Best! Gary Lagstrom

I was at RFK just a few nights later. Still the greatest concert I’ve ever been to and that includes 7 U2 shows. When Edges guitar started with Streets I could hardly contain the emotion. There was no KZread back then, no tiktok, hell we didn’t even have internet so you didn’t know the set list ahead of time. Ever since the album dropped I’d prayed that they’d open with Streets and they did. Maybe the greatest night of my life. Top 5 for sure!

@Tailhook MD I was at that show as well. The recording of that show is up on KZread as well. Listening to it took me right back to that night. I had completely forgotten that Bruce Springsteen came out and performed with them until I revisited that show.

Remember when Soundboard bootlegs were the absolute best to find. I miss that period of time.

Fortunately, U2 is a band that never took a stand against Bootlegs. These recordings are a real gift for all of us. Here in Brazil, in the early 90s, the only way to get Bootlegs was by importing CDs from Europe or the USA and they arrived here with very high prices (US $ 80, US $ 100 ...). But can I say something? I bought many and they were worth every penny! ! !

I was there on October 30, 1987, it was Larry's birthday and they played in Chicago.

Should have included Boston their “home away from home” in Rattle and Hum. But all is forgiven - we got the elevation tour DVD!

I was lucky enough a wonderful dear sweet giant of a friend Lou from Brookline, who was always going to concerts, randomly asked me to go. I was like HELL Yah! It's my favorite album. Every song is gold! Just as fantastic live. When I think about it, I can still hear it in my head - EVERYONE still singing How Long Must We Sing This Song as we left the Garden and still doing it when we got outside. Later Lou and a bunch of our friends went to the Zoo TV show at Foxboro. I miss Lou. What a gentle giant.

Same memory, all of us walking the ramps down from level to level at the Garden, everyone singing and refusing to let the music end. It was beautiful.

Great recovery by Edge during streets intro, very tricky getting back into time when using delay on the guitar...

I was actually at this gig. An awesome warm up for front row a few days later in Foxboro (with Bono in a sling!) Had already seen U2 five times by this point (another 100 or so would follow), and finally heard Out of Control. Awesome night!

Thanks for sharing this. I saw U2 for the first time in Edinburgh at Murrayfield stadium 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 on the 1st of August 1987 that Yr. This is reminiscing for me ❤ Support band's were Love and money, The Mission, Runrig and the Pogues.;

Drove two hours same day of show in Murphreesboro Tn (south of Nashville) with no tickets and paid $18.50 at the box still selling tickets to what was a rumored sold out show with my good friend Stephen and ended up 8th row center stage and the best night of my young life-I was 19 years old! November 28th 1987

The authentic Irish Pub scene was close to Faneuil Hall. I went a few times. Only traditional old Irish music on the juke box. I bet they had a blast!!

I have seen them over the past 30 years, I will tell you they sounded as good if not better on the 2017 tour! Bonos voice has gotten better, learned how to sing and use it better. I was blown away.

I was at this show and saw Zoo TV in Foxboro (outside). The tech was cool, and the belly dancer. But I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the Garden Joshua Tree. I love U2 no matter what, and had a great time.

⁠​⁠​⁠@@CrisNunyaI was at the 1992 St Patrick’s Day Zoo TV concert at the Garden, this was very early in the indoor leg of the ZooTV tour, and yes the first 8 songs were exactly the same every night, but then the band mixed it up. Also it was the LOUDEST concert I’ve been to. When Edge was playing Van Damien’s Land we couldn’t hear him the crowd was so loud. I went to the spectacle that was ZooTV outdoor concert but it didn’t compare to the St Patrick’s Day show

Great sounding show …..but edge is having a nightmare..he’s obviously not happy about technical problems thus making uncharacteristic playing mistakes..but Bono is absolutely brilliant at distracting crowd to on edges problems due to Bono being Bono 👍
