U2 Streets Organ Intro Sound Using Guitar

I'm trying out the Eventide H9 for a new pedalboard. The Fender Strat goes into the Eventide H9 with my Korg SDD3000 delay pedal to make the guitar sound like an organ. Enjoy.

    The organ sound was surprisingly good but then the guitar riff started... wow. That’s probably the best, most accurate Edge tone I’ve ever heard. Nice work!

    @@u2john316 Ahh, very good. Very few if any have been able to achieve that mechanical scratching, and you've done a great job. That scratch is EVERYTHING when one wants to replicate Edge's sound. I saw a video of how he did it and apparently he actually recorded the scratching picking sound separately and mixed it in. He could take a few lessons from you. ;)

Reason I ask is I think I have similar chain except for the Eventide. Would you be kind enough to share your Korg SD3K settings? That is a great intro with the organ and delays together! Great job!!

    Whast delay times ???

  • @Massygo

    @Massygo

    4 жыл бұрын

    Here are the correct delay times Delay 1: SDD3000 500ms rpt8 Delay 2: memoryman 360ms rpt20 Delay 3: DD20 400ms rpt12 Delay 4: DD20 300ms rpt15 from Mick his tutorial on layering the delays for this effect. lets do some maths, take delay 1 and 2 and count up in time how long 500ms time 8repeats is (in seconds) next take delay 2: 360 x 20 repeats. that is the first part of this shimmer,. Now do the same with calculating the 3rd & 4th delay (400 times 12 & 300 times 15) got it? These 2 sections are the layers and should ALMOST have around the same duration in time. that is the info on how it is build up and how you can create other sorts in this genre. When you start layering them use the right order, dont mix 4 &1 and 3 &2, just do delay 1 2 3 &4 in layer. When you got it... don't stroke, do togling on the chords and there you go.

    u2john316 , do you think that I can get that shimmer kind of sound from a Boss RV-6 ? For a student I guess the eventide H9 is a little bit too expensive... and by the way , I bought a Mexican Strat a couple months ago and I've got a tc nova delay , which I also saw in one of your comparison video for the Where the streets have no name sound but I just can't get tones like you , I think the delay is quite good for the price but is it because of the pickups or because of the amp? Maybe I should buy a Valve amp , because I think my Marshall MG102 just won't work for kind of edgy sounds... By the way your videos are great , greetings from Germany, hope you'll answer .

  • @u2john316

    @u2john316

    Thanks for your comments. You might get some kind of shimmer sound with that other pedal but not like what you hear from the H9 in my video here. Also, the choice of amp and guitar pickups are very very very important to the overall sound. In a U2 context, you really need valve amps such as VOX or Fender.

    u2john316 Thanks for your answer, than I must earn much more money for buy this one haha. I'm thinking about to get a Fender blues junior, in that tweed look , oh I love this amp. but you used this amp a couple of years ago too , right? Can I get authentic u2 sounds with this little amp ? You now , I am a huge edge fan and I am always fascinated of his effects work , but in the other hand I love that slash marshall sound a la afd 100 and I try to get both ... I play guitar for about 5 years now and I am pretty conservative but modern too , so I am trying to find an amp which can sound like edge and slash ...
