This is a fun one for us to do. The only time Russ saw the band U2 in concert was at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1992. One song from that show was broadcast on the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards live as it happened. Watch as Russ & Lauren react to the footage that was broadcast live on television.

Great reaction to a rare callback. Loved hearing you share your personal memories of the actual concert. Yes, this IS an underrated song. (Song quality is poor here.) U2 are rock legends. The band is known for having staged probably the *most innovative live tours* of all time. In addition to this ZooTV tour’s landmark integration of video at concerts-which later became a norm for other artists-they also did tours that pioneered the b-stage-now a common thing among live music acts as well. Another example of their innovation was the advanced way they centrally suspended all speakers for more balanced sound to every seats in an stadium or arena, rather than using a huge wall of speakers that had been done for decades by other acts. U2 are GOAT live performers.

Thank you very much for checking it out. It was fun for us with me having been at the concert and Lauren never even having seen the performance at all. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and the comment!

@@InfectiousGroovePodcast it was taped after the rattle and hum movie. Watching it side by side it was like 2 different bands.

Geez. The red-haired lady could not be less impressed. Wtf. This is U2 in their Zoo TV era. They were golden.

I (Russ) was kinda surprised she (Lauren) didn't like it more. I loved it myself and it was a really cool show for me to have been at.

Totally agree with you!!! ' Nothing beats the Zoo tv ',as one fan stated! I am a huge U2 fan! I was 17 in 1992, sadly i didn't see the Zoo tv/Zooropa tour! But u2 were gods at this point in history! Achtung Baby/ Zoo tv tour, another example how U2 were so unlike and far away from everything that was current at the time. Can't get enough of Zoo tv. They should release this concert from Pontiac Silverdom Michigan on DVD! Btw to the guy in the panel here, and did attend that show and didn't know the opening song, that was Zoo station! The song they always open with, from Achtung Baby! I also might add that, the Pontiac show was also the night which featured 'So Cruel' . A song they played 3 or 4 times on the Zoo tv tour, and also with one of the best versions of 'Mysterious Ways ' that they have ever performed!

@TP42411 thank you for all that detail. I was pretty sure they opened with Zoo Station but I didn't want to say that and be wrong. Thank you for the info! Personally, I would LOVE it if they would release video of this whole show. It was really a wonderful night. I'm thankful I was there.

Hmm, I'm not too sure on that. If so, I don't think she was at the Detroit show.

I liked the song at the time (I was 17 when it came out) but it has not grown with me, and I think that it's for a similar reason to why this song wasn't a hit. It feels too plastic even on a record that was supposed to be ironically plastic. If that makes sense.

That does make sense. I've never loved the song. I never hated it but never loved it. This performance was cool to be at though.

@@InfectiousGroovePodcast it's still a decent song. I just don't generally go looking for it if I'm in a U2 mood.
