U2, "Beautiful Day" guitar lesson. We're using the Malekko Ekko 616 MKII for a warm analog repeat and the Catalinbread Galileo to replicate the Edge's famous AC30. The verse for Beautiful Day uses the neck humbucker and a fast vibrato delay to fill the dreamy space while the chorus includes the Galileo's Top Boost feature and the bridge pickup. Using bar chords and letting them ring out is also the key to capturing the uplifting feeling in this tune's epic chorus.

Strange how it sounds like a minor progression without the rest of the song, but then the entire song sounds super happy.

I love that, when the guitar is by itself, it's a completely different song.

the verse is so simple yet effective, the edge is mindblowing in that way, not to mention THE influence on contemporary christian guitar . thanks for breaking this down!!!

He also uses KORG and TC2290 two great sound digital boxes with here own sound (the 2290 modulation is really nice). So something like the Flashbackx4 that has DDM sounds (close not the same but close) and 2290 tones covers the territory alright. Not sure what he used on Beautiful day though.

Looking for a vox AC30 preamp sim pedal. I've heard the Mooer Day Tripper & Tech 21 Liverpool are Vox sims. Anyone have any feedback or suggestions? The Galileo is a Brian May pedal & has the treble boost so that might be too driven & Edge never uses a treble booster, but he does use the AC30 top boost channel. Andy, any suggestions?

Anthony Sclafani if you're going direct into a DI box to front of house or a PA system, check out a Sansamp Tech 21 Liverpool. If you already have an amp and want it to sound Vox-y, check out a Made By Mike Sign of the Chimes.

Couldn't be an LP Junior if it has two pickups. It could be an older 'The Paul'. It's kinda a stripped down Les Paul type guitar with no maple cap.

Andy was using an analog delay and a British amp voiced overdrive. He's obviously trying to model a memory man and an AC30
