"U.S. Outrage Over Taliban's Repair and Use of Abandoned Military Equipment"

Following the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, the American government has expressed significant anger and concern over reports of the Taliban repairing and repurposing military equipment left behind by the U.S. forces. This equipment, which includes vehicles, weapons, and advanced technology, was intended for use by the now-defunct Afghan National Defence and Security Forces.

Your logic is hilarious. To say the Taliban won the war is like saying you won that fight after your bully got tired of beating you up and went home. The equipment was left behind because the cost of shipping that crap back to the US is more than the cost of the equipment. Secondly, the equipment the Taliban inherited is not enough to pose a serious national security threat to anyone except for the countries that border Afghanistan. So the Taliban will continue to destabilize the region with the equipment which ultimately benefits US foreign policy. You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.

The US is not outraged at the Taliban for repairing that equipment. The US are outraged at Biden for doing such a poor job in evacuating people from Afghanistan. The equipment left behind is really trivial. The aircraft are being replaced in the US, the Hive and Mi aircraft are 1980's Soviet Union Vintage Air Craft. The Afghanistan people are not stupid and anything left behind, they can reverse engineer it all just as easily as any other country. They can do that with any piece of gear they captured over the course of being occupied by both Russian and US forces. We already knew this was going to happen when it was first announced the equipment was left behind.

If the Taliban doesn't end up a puppet of Putin, Xi, or the ISI, and continues to hate Iran, in the grand strategic sense in the short run, to update the weapons and fix the morale of the military of a country in a position like that, it looks a lot less like a loss than it does like an expensive tie. @mikeironman That I agree with. While a debate can be had whether or not this was military loss or just the US just losing interest. Shifting focus to counteract major geopolitical rivals like China, Russia, Iran, or others. I do agree this is a massive geopolitical failure. Like why did we need to agree to any of the Taliban's demands? We know they weren't going to uphold their deals. We should have left on better terms and with better preparation.

@@jsmoo1206 They supported the Taliban. America did a great job unifying the Afghan people against us. Occupying a nation for 22 years will do that. If some country was occupying America for 22 years it would have unified the American people against that foreign power. That is just human nature. No people want a foreign military in their country dictating what goes on. They had every right to resist once we showed that we had no intention on ever leaving like we claimed at the start of the war. We said we would leave but didn't and the people continued to resist until we finally did.

I was there when the U.S. was withdrawing from Afghanistan, we left so much equipment behind it’s a damn joke. When I returned back to the states, my entire unit held a conference pretty much debriefing us on what happened in Afghanistan and Iraq, the higher ups told us that our efforts was all worth it, I was furious. I stood up and I said “ Sir, if our efforts was all worth it, then why did we leave the enemies/ terrorists all the equipment?” I was told that it was more expensive shipping all of the equipment back to the states, but instead to just “destroyed” everything that we were leaving behind, what a freaking disgrace… we need more accountability not only from the president but our military leaders and subordinates giving out these ridiculous orders. God Bless America!!
