What was the best way a family/friend supported you? What do you wish they sent you? My son starts boot camp and then will be sent to A school for MOA.

@@FULD72 The best things we always looked for was news from the outside world since we don't get any, and simply words of love, encouragement, and understanding in letters. That had more effect than anything. For A school if they need anything they'll just get it themselves with the on-base stores. Best of luck to your son!

Those were certainly the simple days, but not better days.

Damn, fort Sam was Disneyland compared to Lackland and NAS Meridian.

I plan on enlisting sometime this year for Master at Arms, got any advice for Basic or A school? Not looking to get FAP'd out to some bs job.

Advice for A school...well, don't take anything personally and remember school is temporary and your first command will want things different than how you were taught anyways hehe. It's a good introduction I guess but every command wants things done different than the other and expect everyone to adapt to them. The only real threat is if you chicken out of the OC course, otherwise you'll only be sent back in training not thrown out of the rating.

Is it true that if you have been oc sprayed before…. from another law enforcement academy…. that you can bring your academy certificate, and they will not require you to be sprayed again?

That's a good question. There was one guy in my class who had his cert from already passing the course so he didn't have to go again, but I think even though you were sprayed before you didn't go through the NAVY's course which undoubtedly is different than the one someone already went through. He got away with it because he already passed the Navy one not a different one.

Only federal law enforcement and prior military certs carry over if it’s a county law enforcement it wont count

Only thing new is the ac and heater don’t work and no more flags hanging

so are the classes/objectives for this job hard or challenging ?

I'm in Bahrain now, and I'd say an average day of class was much harder than an average day at work on the actual job. It's probably about as hard as a high school history class with memorization and test taking, not so bad, but the OC spray will easily be among the most painful things you ever do.

@@HaedenBeck see because i don’t learn as quick as others and i don’t retain information as well as people so that’s my worry is the classes and job being hard or tricky for me because i’m not dumb, my gpa n grades are absolutely flawless but i do struggle in classes and ESPECIALLY on test, i have test anxiety so i always do bad

@@YNSNAnderson You need an 80% to pass every test, A school is harder than C school, none of the information is difficult or anything there's no math problems or 4D chess but there is uhh...teachers and methods that I disagreed with. Test anxiety could be a problem anywhere. Some classmates suffered the same. If you're intelligent, you probably should look at another rating. MA is cool in that we get guns and guard stuff and there's BUDS dropouts amongst you that you can talk to but your talents are needed elsewhere. I had an 84 ASVAB and should I have taken a different job, probably, this one only requires like a 50 or something.

@@HaedenBeck you know any jobs who travel a lot or are actually kinda fun or enjoyable in a way ? anything not math related because i suck at math, that’s why my ASVAB score is low, the math is something I am terrible at

@@YNSNAnderson I was never great at math but I studied my ass off and got really good at it. Once you pass the ASVAB with a score you want, nobody is gonna ask you to retake it or show you math again. I've only ever been an MA but I know some LS, and HM. It sounds like LS is interesting but I can't really speak from experience, you should watch videos of them talking about their job. MA is cool, you promote fast, it's not hard to get it, it's easy, don't need math, but there's better stuff out there if you have different priorities or higher skills.

Is this a passing grade for inspection?

This room passed inspections, they mostly care about stuff being unlocked and valuables being left out while you're not home which are automatic failures.
