Tyre Nichols funeral: Rev. Al Sharpton delivers eulogy
Rev. Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy at Tyre Nichols' funeral service in Memphis, Tenn. Nichols , 21, died in January days after he was beaten during an interaction with Memphis police officers. Five officers were fired from the department and have been charged with murder in Nichols' death.
Attorney Ben Crump also spoke during the funeral service.

What really devastating to me was that a fully grown man so brutally beaten that his subconscious takes over and crying OUT for his mama like A 2 YEAR OLD CHILD same thing with GF calling for his MAMA!!!

I whole heartedly agree with Reverend Sharpton's statements expressing his disappointment in these black officers' conduct towards another black man. My question is, why isn't he equally disappointed in the black-on-black murders committed in the inner cities each and every day. Many of the victims of gang violence and random shootings are children--children with a lifetime of hopes and dreams ahead of them. A life lost to violence is tragic no matter the circumstances or the person committing that violent act. My heart aches for Tyre's parents who lost a son that had so much promise, so much potential. His mother especially is in my thoughts and prayers. His mother was the house of his soul for 9 months. You can't carry a child and not share a special bond. God bless her for her grace in speaking to the black community regarding her heartbreak by asking the public to protest but to protest peacefully. Tyre held Dr. King's views about violence in his heart. He will reside with the angels in heaven.

Tyre resisted arrest by running away. The officers f’ed up by being too violent. No one wants to be a police office for MPD because of the extreme crime, which is why MPD lowered their hiring standards. Al simply doesn’t care about crime unless he can draw a racist narrative out of it. Maybe he was useful during the Civil Rights Movement when there was actually racism, but there’s no such thing now.
