    Very tired of roaring dinosaurs. No solitary predator makes a big deal about making a kill the ones that did used to do that lose their kills two other animals and they starve and die out so the behavior doesn't perpetuate. In the real world predators don't provide meals for others at the expense of itself.

    Dude this is 10,000x scarier than the 90s shrinkwrapped roaring T-Rex everyone is so attached to. Imagine walking through the forest and something that big is just... just... THERE. And you didn't hear it approach you. And there's multiple of them, and the only sound they make is a deep rumbling noise that sounds like a growling stomach. That's terrifying.

    You're having selective memory. First rex scene she breaks out and isn't hunting. Hence the noise and screaming. Bit further down the line she sneaks up on gallis and takes one down. And at the end another sneak attack when she saves the humans. You just think you're clever making this comment but you couldn't be more wrong

Some lifters did get a bit plump, but even they weren't morbidly obese. There also isn't a single large extant terrestrial predator that is plump like that. Even bears, which have a high degree of body fat, don't look like that. You can still see muscles rippling under the skin and fur when they walk or run. I seriously doubt that it was any different in the case of the T. Rex. This iteration of the King of the Dinosaurs to me just looks.... wrong, somehow.

    For everyone that ignores the simple fact that T. Rex is an animal and not a monster or a videogame character, it could been scared by the two quetzals, animals avoid injury when possible, infection is a real risk, there is also the intimidation factor, vultures can drive lions off carcasses when in big enough numbers, i hope this clear the mind of some people out there.

    I dont believe vultures can drive off lions from their kill, let alone a male lion. but I can see them driving of cheetahs. Although the quetzals appears bigger than the trex, its light weight compared to t-rex and I cannot imagine this would have happened in real. No bird would risk its ability to fly.

But that's what happen, hyenas scare away lions from carcasses because it is not worth for the lions to risk getting injured even if they can kill every hyena, they would die of infection or would be too weak to hunt

    Great blue herons have long beaks and are tall birds, but that doesn't stop bald eagles from frequently hunting them. Bald eagles will also land in herons nests and eat the eggs right in front of the screaming parents, and looks at them as much as if to say; try something. I dare you. There are videos of it right here on KZread. It then leaves after eating it's fill. There's no way even very large pterodactyl's were going to drive off the King of the Dinosaurs.

    @@classicgalactica5879I know it hard for you to understand but it nature. It happen everytime. Different between the bird you mentioned and to a quetzal is that quetzal is taller than a T. rex and have a large beak that can injure an inexperienced animal. The difference is that the T. rex can’t fly, so comparing a quetzal and a T. rex to an eagles and other small bird isn’t a good comparison. Rex don’t hunt quetzal cause it risky, same as risking hunting a bull triceratops. And there two of quetzal challenges a Rex. You are focusing on a single eagles hunting a single herons.

  • @jacobcox4565

    @jacobcox4565

    There are many theories. For some reason, T. rex had comparatively small, yet very well developed arms. Their arms were actually strong enough to bench press 400 lbs. One theory says that they used their arms to assist in mating by holding onto females while the male mounted. Another theory says their arms are small because there's no need to have powerful arms when their bite is more than enough to do the job. One theory I like is that T. rex had small arms so they're less likely to be bitten off or injured during combat with other members of their species.

    I mentioned this on another thread. But I’m really, *really* getting sick of the subversive narrative trend in extinct animal fandom. Let me get this out of the way first. Do I have issues with the Quetz VS Rex scene? No, absolutely not, I think it’s a great scene and it’s very fitting in a nature documentary, and it’s refreshing to see: 1. Another animal that’s not a Trike or Anky successfully fending off a T. rex. 2. A powerful apex predator like the T. rex showing a very reasonable sense of self-preservation. What I *do* have a problem with is the attitude surrounding it. Armchair online paleontologists seem to *really like* doubling down on the subversive narrative that is this weird hipster mentality of “oh, the thing the mainstream media used to tell as the norm is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!”. Thus, you get all these depictions of hadrosaurs harnessing this so-called “herbivore power”, demonstrated with them being a violent and unstoppable juggernaut. Or you know, ceratopsids happily feasting on a mutilated carcass (usually that of a carnivorous theropod for extra subversive points!) just to show that sometimes herbivores also eat meat for extra supplements? This is to name a few notable examples. How many times have you seen art of dromaeosaurs with exaggerated forms of plumage in a gruesome scene where it disembowel and eat their prey alive? How many times have *Yutyrannus* been set as an example just to deliver the “see?! Feathers can be scary!” What is this weird obsession to monster-ify dinosaurs while also trying to subvert the pop-culture norm? What’s wrong with them just being animals and not a “totally scary and savage” animal? I swear, I’ve seen people trying to shoehorn arguments that the PP *Velociraptor* is an example of how “scientifically accurate animals can be scary” and I’m like… What? At no point in the documentary that the *Velociraptor* is attempted to be depicted as a savage, terrifying beast. It looks like a regular desert animal that does desert animal things. You know what’s funny? This is very similar to the awesomebro mindset, just from the opposite side of the spectrum in terms of paleontological accuracy. Which is ironic since apparently awesomebros are such a dreaded boogeyman in the paleosphere. And now, azhdarchids are starting to get the same treatment.

Their beaks are literally longer that it's skull, loosing a eye here is totally a fatal possibility and could screw it up.

    @EmpyreusAwakening Yeah, I don't think that T-Rex understood how infections work. Yes, you are right. T-Rex was an animal, not a killing machine. But I can't help but believe T-Rex was an aggressively territorial animal. T-Rex most likely laid claim to all or above all things in his or her territory, especially when it came to food, I would wager. I imagine a full-grown bull T-Rex wasn't going to back down to any other creature in his territory other than possibly a larger T-Rex. I still say he ain't letting no oversized cross between a pelican and a bat (or even two of them) chase him away from a meal. At the end of the day, if a T-Rex was hungry enough, it would throw caution to the wind.

And infections are a big problem. I think u don't realize how massive animals actually live, just because it has a big ass jaw doesn't mean it can beat anything else at it's path, a simple Triceratops is dangerous enough to put a end on a Trex. A fucking flying giraffe with a beak longer than the Trex head can clearly do something while fly above it, it can't even reach the bastard. And anyways, with such a big carcass like this, those flying reptiles aren't even going to eat half of it, it can just come back later and eat it in peace.

    @dev4159 Thank you for your words of wisdom, Dr. Doolittle, I was half inclined to take them seriously but then thought Naah, why would I? "Simple triceratops?" You make the triceratops sound harmless, lol. I could see where even a large T-Rex would avoid a perfectly healthy bull triceratops or a female triceratops with offspring as being far more likely than a T-Rex avoiding confrontation with an over grown pelican/bat. The triceratops would pose a far greater risk than the pelican/bat in a fight. Your whole argument is flawed. Would not, the pelican/bat want to avoid a fight with a T-Rex for precisely the same reason? Would it not behoove the pelican/bat to let T-Rex get his fill first and then come back after he moved on? The risks to the pelican/bat would be far greater than to the T-Rex. The pelican/bat's beak did not have the tensile strength to do much damage to the skin of a T-Rex. The pelican/bat would have to be an absolute marksman with that beak to get a bull's eye shot on the T-Rex's eye all while attacking within easy striking distance of the most dangerous part of the T-Rex which is his jaws/teeth. In nature, the biggest, the strongest, and the baddest always eat first, the rest get the leftovers, if there are any. And that law of nature would have damned sure applied to a naturally territorial and hungry T-Rex. But nice try, Dr. Doolittle, go back to playing your Jurassic Park game and stop trying to pretend like you know something.

    Fossil evidence, modern analogs, and some amount of educated speculation. Think of it, T. rex was huge, and recent studies put its top speed at about 15 mph, but its prey is faster. T. rex also lived in wetland forests that would've looked a lot like the Everglades of Florida, that means plenty of foliage that can be used as cover. T. rex also had an incredibly powerful bite that would allow it to end hunts quickly. There's really no other way a T. rex could hunt other than ambushing, and if T. rex had to have ambushed its prey, that means it also had to be very quiet when taking steps. Elephants have pads on their feet that make them practically silent when walking, and Elephants are similar in size to T. rex. It makes a lot of sense once you lay everything out like that.

    As good as this show is, there is a flaw... at the end of the video, when 2 pterasors chase away a T-rex... well, to put likely: thats is simply not possible... you cant compare vultures chasing away hienas to a kill with pterasors chassing away a trex. Vultures are pound for pound nearly as large as a hiena, while pterasors arent nearly as large as a trex. Also because of their size, pterasor wings are paper thin, to reduce weight, to make it possible to fly... so a pterasor, for its size, it only weighs as little more then a human... while a trex clocks out at 7tones... also any injury to a pterasor could spell disaster and leave it unable to fly... so what would a trex bite would do to a pterasor? The answer: not gonna end up well for the pterasor... thats for sure... and the trex could inflict tremendous damage even without his signature bite force... one swipe from that tale and its game over for any pterasor... pterasors, as well as birds, are higly vulnerable to blunt force hits... their bones are hollow... and can witstand torsion (unlike mammal or reptile bones) but are verry vulnerable to blunt force trauma... (wich mammal and reptiles can shrug off)... in conclussion: there is no way a pterasor or two or even a dozen, could chase a trex from a kill... maybe the trex had eaten its full... but its higly probable it would guard the kill for future consumption... so, 2 pterasors would never be able to scare a trex from a kill... the risk of dieing is to great... thats like 2 hungry little puppies would try to take on a full grown bear guarding its kill... thats not gonna happen... still, this show is amaizing... by far the best dinosaur documentary since walking with series...

    Tyrannosaurs ate hadrosaurs often. We have fossil evidence of this. On average, Edmontosaurus was around 38 ft and 4-5 tons; half the mass of an average T. rex. The largest two specimens of Edmontosaurus in the world indicate a MAXIMUM length of around 48 ft with a weight of about 9 tons. So the even the very largest of them was still only about the same mass as a typical Tyrannosaurus and had literally none of the weapons. The idea of a 4-6 ton hadrosaur somehow fighting off a 7-9 ton T. rex is about as realistic as an 800 cow with no horns fighting off a 1000 lb brown bear. It didn’t happen. At least not often.
