We would catch army guy's doing each other in supply containers. Much more gays in the army compared to the navy. They call the Marine's stupid. I went to college and knew a lot of fellow veterans. Lot's of extremely smart Marine's and the one's barely getting it were army veterans. You do have a twisted mind set on the military. I served with plenty of men and women who earned a degree while serving and some even earned a masters. Most everyone else enrolled into a trade school or college after completing their service. So the military aren't a bunch a morons running around waiting for orders. They join to serve their country and travel. I've been to over 63 different countries. It would behoove of you to not be so bigoted in your views and realize, not everyone wants to enter college not knowing what they want to major in. Some people want to see the world and figure their lives out. Army, Navy, Marine, and Air Force. Lot's of smart individuals who serve with honor. Keep in mind. It's harder to get into the military than it is into college.

When I was in the Army(not even 10yrs ago) we had some chairforce stationed on our base (ft. Bliss) & they got paid extra $$ to make up for "the lower level quality of living they had to deal with there" I was like wtf?? Where's my extra $$? Now I'm an unemployed vet asking the same thing lol.

Umm national guard not cost Guard the second a disaster happens on us soil the national guard is sent out if it’s weather coast guard will help . Fun fact tho if us Americans started an insurgence the national Guard is the only branch who can fight with the people the government can call on there army but in defense the army’s job is not to attack its own people do in all reality we could totally start an insurgency and create a new government

In The Royal Navy our CO used to say in The Army you could be Shot, in the Navy you could drown and in in the Air Force you could choke on your complimentary Lobster Thermidor.

My grandfather was a District Command Master Chief who did four years in the marines during Vietnam. He was infamous back in the day at Cherry Point Marine Air Base NC when he went through a gate and the guards didn't salute his officers he went ballistic on them and word of it spread through out the base and by the time they reached their destination he was already getting apologies. I've seen and heard a lot of things but Chiefs are scary CG or not.

I am retired disabled Coast Guard having served both in Vietnam and stateside. The cutter I was on received more combat action ribbons than any other cutter during the Vietnam conflict.

Technically you are correct. USCG is under the direction of the department of Homeland Security. As the mother of a son in his 4th year as a Coastie HEADED TO Bahrain and the Persian Gulf in a few months, my worry is the same as any other mother with a child in any other branch of the military. So I am disheartened at the disdain for him and his fellow Coasties

We all pick on each other for fun. It started when there were only two branches and it is all in fun because we will pile up in any none military person that tries to do it just like any other group of family members

What people don't understand is the coast guard is older than the navy marines and the air farse. It's also the Coast Guard that piloted the landing craft in ww2
