    As an architect, I understand that the brick veneer system is not an efficient solution in terms of thermal performance. The brick wall is a thermal mass, that is, a heat accumulator. In hot climates, the mass remains warm for several hours after sunset, maintaining heat flow into the house when outside temperatures have dropped and the house should be cool. In cold climates, as it is insulated inside, thermal mass remains cold on the outside and cannot be used to keep the house warm because it does not receive heat from internal heating. The double brick wall system is more efficient as the insulated cavity is in the middle of the walls and the thermal mass of the internal wall is protected. Thanks for the excellent video!

    Hi Edmar, you are correct. There is another form of construction where the brick wall is built to the inside and the timber wall external. It provides better thermal performance. Thanks for your comment. Very valuable information.

    In double brick both leaves are built at the same time. The outside leaf is finished before roofing, windows, doors, plastering or any other finishings are started.

    @@bengthebrazilianengineerinAus I'm a Licensed Carpenter who is currently studying to be a residential construction supervisor at the HIA and to also get my builder’s license. That’s why I find your videos to be pure gold! The type of content I would love to see would be read & interpret plans & specifications, Australian building codes & standards, and structural principles. Once again awesome channel mate thank you 🙏

    @@shaneashby5890 that's great brother. Getting your builders license will be a huge step up. We may do some work together eventually. I do have a couple of videos on how to read drawings. The standards unfortunately there is no workaround. You will have to read them as boring as it may be. I'm planning some videos on the minimum builders and architects must know about structural engineering.

    Thanks for your video, and I found it really informative. Would you be kind to answer 2 questions please: Q1. In the brick veneer wall, does the outer layer brick resist to lateral loads like bracings? Q2. In the double brick wall, does the outer brick layer can resist the vertical loads or only inner layer resist vertical loads?

  • @bengthebrazilianengineerinAus

    @bengthebrazilianengineerinAus

    9 ай бұрын

    Brick veneer is not used for bracing. It doesn't provide any load bearing function. The outer layer can resist vertical loads, depending on the design, however typically it is a continuous wall up to the roof and the inner layer stops and starts.

    se vc quiser ir pelo caminho da carpintaria tem outros tipos de vistos que vc pode pegar tbm. Acredito que vc va ter que estudar carpintaria novamente aqui do mesmo jeito por ser uma exigencia dos vistos (acredito eu). Se eu fosse vc eu focaria em aprender ingles e ja vir pra Australia o quanto antes.
