Funny who in the UK we biuld brick houses that soke up rain like a sponge and us biulds sheds and wonders why that don't say on the ground when tornadoes and hurricane are more common than UK trains being on time

Being from south Louisiana I find it extremely cool to see a basement build into a home lol here we just pour the slab on the ground
The construction of this basement is wonderful, and it's a good example of what I would like to build my own home. The reinforced concrete structure is sturdy, the ceilings are high, and the space is large. Even if a major earthquake were to occur, the wooden structure is also sturdy, making it a safe home. It's wonderful.
Seeing the pride on their faces when it's done is the best part.
Ah c est intéressant de voir votre type de construction. Le toit est génial. En Belgique il y a toujours des fondations en béton, et les murs aussi. Bien sûr il existe des chalets et d autres types de construction mais souvent tout est en "dur" de la cave au grenier.
Very cool. I love these Jay Dinkel projects.
I love watching these videos, I really enjoy them; They make me happy, because I don't have a house and I would like one day to be able to make my dream of having one come true and to carry out this whole construction process. God bless you guys from Colombia.

Very American house, all show on the outside, but you're living in a garden shed. Won't look too good in twenty years, horrible and flimsy construction, and no cross bracing of the structure, relying on the OSB for rigidity. Still prefer brick and block walls with a slate or concrete tiled roof.
@empice2k
2 жыл бұрын
So very true... OSB was used throughout the construction. OSB is a garbage building material. No proper floor joints only that OSB composite was used instead. No plywood sub-flooring, OSB sheets were used instead. I’d hate to walk on that floor in about 20 years.
@roybrewer6583
2 жыл бұрын
@@empice2k yes, I can see the floors bowing quite quickly due to lack of strength, much to thin. In a house I would use nothing thinner than 15mm thick marine grade plywood, even where it is fully weather protected.
@jokesatinappropriatetimes
2 жыл бұрын
@@roybrewer6583 the flooring is a minimum ¾" (18mm) thick, so where's the problem? Sure, if you get water standing on it, it falls tf apart, but keeping up on maintenance and repairs will keep it strong for many years. OSB is stronger and flatter than plywood.
@roybrewer6583
2 жыл бұрын
@@jokesatinappropriatetimes OSB ages very quickly and you need a much OSB than the plywood equivalent, it's a cheap material for a reason. It may have good structural properties, but I would still put in cross bracing, in the UK it's extremely windy and wind bracing is required. I still wouldn't specify OSB and would prefer either a concrete floor or block and beam floor on brick/concrete walls, expensive when compared to OSB. I know that in the US they value engineering construction to save money, but saving money upfront comes with problems in the future. I prefer life cycle costing, paying more and reducing maintenance costs. Each to their own, there's never a wrong or right approach, it's always down to time, money and quality you want to achieve, I find that often one of the three suffers even on a good build, still wouldn't build a house out of matchsticks, lol.

Why is it that when Americans start building a super-high-speed locomotive, they always get a frame house? For example, in Russia and Belarus, frame construction of houses occupies only 2%, and 98% of buildings are stone, where for 10,000 dalars you can build a stone house with an area of 200 square meters of brick and this is considered the cheapest construction, and in the USA and the European Union, a brick house is considered the pinnacle of construction equipment, politicians live in such houses or movie stars, while the average salary in Russia and Belarus is about 700 dalars
