I see typhoid cases every day.. here in South sudan, we use Widal test... and widal tend to be positive whenever blood smear for malaria parasite is ++ and after treating malaria alone, the widal results changes to negative and the patient improves.... Please can you help me clarify.. or try finding out? Thank you for your endless education

Yes, that's very true. Amazing piece of information in comments section Drag seri. Cross reacting antibodies are produced in malaria that can cause a false positive widal test. 😊

Sir here in every hospital we start ceftriaxone and i have not seen giving coprofloxcin sir. Kindly clarify reagarding this.

In Typhoid 60 years old female, 10 days are passed, doctor give her taxim of in the 1st phase, 2nd phase after 5 days patient did not recover then azithromycin 500 give her, yet not progress. Can I give her lizomed 600 be,in the mid time clarithromycin 500 Od,zincovit bd,montek lc Od ??pls sir suggest and advise me.

Typhidot IgM and IgG are more sensitive. Widal test is now obsolete.

Typhidot(IgG, IgM) is available now in rural areas. Typhidot is more convinient than Widal.

Dr. Raj Kumar, you may stop antibiotics and wait for 72 hours then take blood culture and restart antibiotics after taking blood.
