Hey, Joe. I repeat to myself, each time you throw shade on angular, "Boxy can be beautiful!"

I've owned a pile of manuals, large and small, over the last half century. I'm a guy with medium sized hands but having been a pro typist for a decade, I have strong fingers. I never, ever saw any reason to fool with 'touch controls' on manuals. I'd automatically keep it on the lightest setting. Of course, none of them approach the light touch of an electric, anyway. I own an SF like yours and it's been a fantastic little machine over the past 20 years, going on many camping trips as a fine traveling machine.

For a while taking one of these machines out in public would draw a crowd! The "60 Minutes" segment with Tom Hanks changed all that and our trusty old "CLICKETY CLACKERS" were restored to their rightful place of honor in a new, younger generation's eyes. YAY!!!

Too, I am arrived at Ep.61, in my traversal of all the 400+ TVS vids. Impressed am I most by considerations, such as here, on ultra-portables. I want the freedom to carry with me, but I do not want sacrifice of conveniences/comforts of mid-size maschines. So, I want to find the "portablest" of those, rather than the best of the smallest. Danke für alles!

Hello you can do a exclamation point by holding down shift and the space bar and then hitting period and the apostrophe .

Fix the Olympia! I love that brand. I always had a ball using any of their machines. They always seem to have that extra attention bestowed upon them by their designers. The greatest keyboard I ever have used on any kind of machine is on my mothers 70s Olympia electric. Double action space and arrow keys, and a light as feather touch while still feeling assertive. My Traveler Deluxe I have still to find the equal of. Light, pretty and damn good feel. Lovely font too. Maybe the Facit is worthy a contender?

The ROYAL looks and sounds just like my larger "portable" one.

Very informative video. What is your opinion of the brother 100, which seems to be easily available? I know it's a bit more modern (1980s) but allegedly very technically sound and nice to use.

I like the entire Brother lineup. They may not have the smoothest touch, and can be a bit loud, but are very reliable portables.

Don't you find the "Goal-Posts" on the brother annoying? They crowd in on the prime focus, standing over the characters as they appear on the page, and blocking them from view as they pass underneath!

This is why the goalposts were moved back ten yards!

Joe, with all due respect to otherwise well produced videos, you tend to prattle on a bit more than necessary to get to the point. Why say in 20 minutes what can be (easily) said in 5? You might consider preparing your discourse in advance with either notes, or script. Also, the proof is in the pudding ... I watch your videos to be informed about the typewriter, not to watch your face. More typing, less chatter. Thank you.
