Virgin Valley, in Nevada, US, also has opal, some fossils, but also volcanic, I believe. But I may be wrong on that.

Ah yes of course! I knew one might have slipped through the gaps there, yes it's also volcanic, I've seen some of the high end wood fossil it has produced. It's pretty awsome!

Yes, I left those out, that's a deep rabbit hole with lots of types, I decided to focus on natural opals in this video (if you can consider treated matrix natural) :)

It's my pleasure! My aim is to give the opal community more regular opal content that they can enjoy, so I am glad you liked it :) You and I both share that dream, I have that small one I shared in the video, but I am definitely after something bigger ha ha

You can definitely get black and dark opal from Mintabie as well.

@@W.MOpalsI bought a small parcel of it a couple of weeks ago myself. Nothing cut from it yet, but I have a stunning black rub full of reds from another parcel. Most of the time though the black potch is very thin. You wont get the same level of black opal you'll get from the Ridge.

Very digestable description of various natural opals and its formation, Although all precious Opal has beauty, Sedimentary wins the day for me, it's stability being far superior, Although I have seen Opal obsidian which stunning and non hydrofane, Coffee 👍 Lucky hat,, no cutting so no hat 👍 Down to earth 👍 Juggling kittens in one hand????? Live in hope

Sedimentary...the king / queen of opal! And yes no cutting = no hat (that bad boy is only for special occasions) I have a lack of kittens at my disposal, perhaps one day...keep dreaming friend ha ha
