Stay away from sodas and juices..drink water and walking and bicycling works for me. I will walk 20k steps a day and bike for 10 miles. I'm no longer on metformin and been off for 5 years.

Both! As the video states it is important to check blood sugar before and after, and depending on your blood sugar one might be better than the other. Walking does tend to lower blood sugar quite effectively, whereas running or weight training depend on the intensity performed. Weight training does allow for better blood sugar control overtime as it makes muscle cells more sensitive to insulin (allowing lower blood sugars overall). Most importantly, make sure to monitor your numbers so they stay in a safe range whatever exercise you are performing!

I don't why US always suggest 100 to 250 range.....whereas worldwide including UK royal society the norm is to keep between 80 to 140 , 150 at most.....250 is quiet high......even a hba1c below 5.5 means average blood sugar is below 111

I've diabetes type 2 and NP told me to exercise even though i work as construction manual laborer .I do the eating healthy part but I'm exhausted by the end of my work day . Another provider told me diabetes type 2 my muscles can't get the sugar from my blood so that may be why muscles feel tired ? I'm also testing myself with a meter a few times a day . Do I still need to walk after work somehow ? I just want to rest for the next grueling day .

Then try to cut down your carb and sugar. Start with diet coke and salads. Do some gyms at home will help to burn off the excess sugar in your blood too.

Wow. That is harsh, because you are already moving much. I think on your days off or weekends, light walking or stretches and meditation should suffice.

What I want to know, is that, 'Is there a way to increase will-power"......?

  • @GLUCOSEZONE

I think starting small is a great way to increase will power. Also finding things that you enjoy like hiking, biking, dancing, house work or anything else that doesn't necessarily feel like exercise but that you can check your blood sugars before and after to see the impact! Definitely try something you enjoy, a sport or activity you want to get back to, or a reason for exercising that motivates yourself. Also, finding times that really work for you so it doesn't feel like a chore or finding someone to do things with.

Visit a dialysis unit for a day. Ask the patients if they have type 2 diabetes, which many of them do, and ask how they're feeling about their quality of life. It's my opinion that if you're not motivated by what you've seen and heard there, you could then try the autopsy room...of course you'll hear no complaints or regrets there. It's about choices...food vs eyesight, kidneys, heart/circulation, etc, etc, etc. I was a dialysis nurse many years ago and I'm motivated every day of my life because of this.
