More people need to look back to see what they have missed over the past videos! They often don't realize the number of videos you have put out. Over 1000 are out and very watchable. We don't need to tie a thousand flies, but if we can learn more techniques it will make us all better tyers. I continue my quest to search flies out that I have not seen. So that others share them on their streams. I hope more will be shared!

Watching your videos Mr.McPail has made me a much better fly tier, thank you for that. Now if only you could come to Ontario and show me how to fish them as good as I tie them.

Looks like a beautiful fly. I think I'll have to dress half a dozen or so for the upcoming season... Great video as always - thanks Davie.

Esta mosca me gusta por su sencillez, su visibilidad, su belleza y su durabilidad. Una de esas moscas que gustan tanto a la trucha como al pescador. El montaje, como siempre, perfecto. Muy bien David

Tied a few of these with the feathers I have. They actually look much more like yours than they used to. :) Second year tying as a hobby. Lord willing, I will fish some of these. All the best to you and yours. Sean

Davie, I heard you say just a teaspoon of red florescent dye, throw the first cape in and get the orangey color. Then the other to get the light pink. How much water and do you set the color of the first cape with vinegar before entering the second or wait until you are done with both to set the dye with vinegar? Thanks for your time in answering this question. I am just beginning to dye feathers, deer hair and the like. All the best to you and yours, Sean

Hi Vincent Derks, I don't really have a lot of lights as the camera I use has a very good auto light setting and I adjust to suit what lights I use. I simply use a daylite 22w lamp and a 100 bulb led panel which as you said does well...Here is a link to the led panel similar to what I use.. I know you made mention that this smaller version was more of an experiment to try on an outing, but how did it fish, was it as productive as the larger version? Debating on tying a few for early spring olives myself but figured I would inquire.

Due to not being able to spend loads on cdc feathers I bought a bag of natural cdc feathers which were white/pale grey and have been colouring them up with a sharpie, i just lightly brush the sharpie over the cdc while they are tied in place. Do you think this will effect how well the cdc floats ?

Hi Gareth, I would be happy just to use the natural grey cdc on any pattern as it works fine, the dyed colours do suit some patterns like this one which fishes well in Ireland..The sharpie pen may cause the fibres to stick together so I would try it on some flies but don't use all your cdc just incase it wastes it... All the very best Davie

yeah it worked ok on the yellow mayflys I tied up just gently brushing the yellow sharpie onto the white cdc but I swapped to using natural dark grey cdc on this fly after a few flys. Made my own spectumized dubbing though so that was cool. I have 150 of your videos stored in catergories that I will be tying up for next years fishing. When complete should have around 1000 flies all from your instruction 😊. Will be spending every spare minute at the vice until its done. Been at it a week and the dry section of the box is done. Nymphs next 😉

Great fly. Sorry , but to get off the subject. With all the dubbing available, How and what do you do to keep and organize your dubbing? Do have any ideas for me? I have been putting them in baggies and storing them in a plastic box. But after a while they are just a messed up pile.

Hi Gary Hartung, I wish I could help you but unfortunately I've got dubbing in boxes just like yourself in different parts of my tying room and to be honest I'll never use half of it but I'm sure I'll still keep buying and making my own..I'm glad you liked the fly... All the very best Davie

Gary I use those big opaque Plano boxes with 30+ compartments for my dubbing. I use a high speed drill to drill a hole in the bottom of each compartment and on the lid, over each compartment I attach an adhesive label. Hope this helps.

Master McPhail, I have a question what kind of wax and how you get it to stick to your finger

Hi John, I use Veniards Prepared Fly Tyers Wax. What I do is cut a small piece off then I soften it by holding it under the warm water tap, once it's soft I then work it between my fingers until it becomes tacky then I can stick it to the side of my finger ready to be used when needed.. www.sportfish.co.uk/prepared-fly-tyers-wax.html All the very best Davie

Hi Lindsay Foster, If I want a pure colour I will use the whitest cape I have but I'll use natural coloured capes to get other colours I want..One of my favourite olives is to dye a natural grey or dun yellow as I use this in most of my olives on the river...The dyes I like are from Veniards, I have attached a link to a video I have on youtube using them..
