Ty Unwin's Massive Moog System 55 Modular Synth

Музыка

Composer Ty Unwin recently took delivery of one of the grandest modular synthesizers ever made. In a new limited-edition reproduction run, 55 brand new units were made using new old-stock parts, and original hand-assembled manufacturing techniques - a late 1970's classic, yet made from scratch in the modern day: The mighty Moog System 55. We visited Ty's incredible studio along with the folks at Giraffe Audio to deliver, unpack and install his new System 55, and chat about what led him to add this monster to his arsenal of synthesizers...
The Moog System 55 was supplied by official (and excellent) UK Moog dealers Giraffe Audio - check them out for all your Moog needs! www.giraffeaudio.com/

As a long term analogue modular user, I can confirm a Moog Modular sounds like a Moog Modular and others don't!

Moms Spagheddi This may be the case with the many amateur youtube videos, but a lot of Soundtrack guys are using them for much more than that, look at Atticus Ross, Trent Reznor, Martin Gore (his album MG) Eurorack or Buchla, Serge etc are a new critical tool for sound design and soundscape design, not to mention the enormous control and modulation options for traditional western music. Bloopy Bloopy -silly and ignorant IMHO

Moms Spagheddi Which kinda proves that Eurorack isn't the problem, it's not a medium limited to "bloopy bloopy", it's just you're watching the wrong people using it on youtube.

Interesting that their was backlash against Moog for re-issuing their own synthesizer. I thought only Behringer got that type of hate. What a beautiful machine that is, bleeps, bloops and drones drowned in reverb is like a spa for my ears 😊

A big congrats to Ty, enjoy that beauty!!! :-) I would strongly encourage him to populate that blank space with a Club Of The Knobs (COTK) C961S "Gate Sequencer" as it is one of the best accessory modules for Moog 960 style sequencer ever! (makes it possible to easily create backwards, ping pong and random patterns as well as rhythmic patterns) When ordering make it clear you are going to be putting it in a Moog 55 reissue and you need the appropriate power connection/wiring. www.cluboftheknobs.com/MODULES_pro_Images/pro_c961s_r4_c2.gif Here's a demo I did several years ago: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hahhvJmhisbXnbw.html

I have the steaming envy. But Mr Unwin probably now has the overdraft that'll take 85 years to pay off. I've never heard of him before, so I'll have to track down his sounds on the Internet.
