This one is on Retep’s behalf because he was on to something about seeing our reflection. Pat and Forrest were mentally adrift reminiscing about their cuddle session in the Sierras and not listening to a damn word Retep says! (as usual 😆) Pat over there saying ancient humans would have thought their reflection was some kind of water ghost. Retep you were right my man, our ancestors absolutely would have been obsessed with their reflections. A high level of self awareness is one of the many unique traits we possess in the animal kingdom. I believe people have been seeking out reflective material for that exact reason for a very, very long time.

One of the tests performed in order to be able to tell if an animal is self aware or conscious is to give it a mirror and place a dot on the animals face and see if it recognizes the dot is in its face. So if humans at that time we’re becoming sentient they would be able to recognize their reflection. If they used tools they could have kept water in a pool or bowl for a mirror.

27:00 Typically Golden carp "Goldfish" at two inch aren't orange, Golden carp fry are a golden-bronze, there original wild colouring, till about 3-inch then start to change to orange but not all, some keep there ancestral golden-bronze colour. 30cm (12-inch) is the normal size for healthy pond type Golden carp, the fancy Golden carp around half that size as they typically have a type of dwarfism that squoshies there body.

Cascade wolf never went extinct until probably now, in the Central and Southern Oregon Cascades we always had a small population of wolves, county officials knew it, national outdoor publications knew it but scientists refused to recognize it (where do you think that first collared wolf from Idaho that wandered so far found a mate so quick) but now with the spread of Northern Rocky Mountain subspecies into that area they will be genetically swamped.

We had a pretty big flood on a Connecticut River in Harford a few years back and me and her friend went walking down on this Park Riverside Park and first thing we see is a big ass Giant Orange goldfish dead on the sidewalk which blew our minds for a few minutes then further down the park we found a grayish version of a big-ass dead goldfish then we got to a part in the park where it dips down and it collected water making a temporary pool of sorts and in this one we see a giant orange thing out in the middle of this probably 4/5-foot deep depression that turned into a pond and inside that one we see a much bigger or anything at least twice the size of the other two may be bigger and I was like that's a f****** road cone that just ended up in that flooded area until it started frantically swimming in circles around the Little Pond Little Pond is right next to the sidewalk to return the other two dead ones so like as the water would recede these big-ass fish would try to make it back to the river which is only about 20 feet away probably and someone make it and this big bastard just didn't and I don't know what happened to him I took video of it my guess is Western Mass because they're dirty up there but who the f*** knows it could be Vermont it could the New Hampshire could be Canada I don't f****** know all I know is there's some big ass goldfish there is one other thing that people have mentioned to me about this but I don't think it makes that much of a difference there is a water turbine electricity situation right over there by that part of the river which pain stop the temperature of the water a few degrees and is a well-known spot for fishing because the fish congregate to the warm water I don't know if that has anything to do with it or maybe because it's directly beneath Springfield Massachusetts but was all seen The Simpsons and we know what goes on to the fish they're in Springfield

Goldfish are the captive version of crucian carp, like normal carp they are strong and fast swimmers, also intelligent bottom feeders. In the UK they are known to grow up to 10lbs easily in the wild. Through generations they should lose their colouring and revert back to their wild form eventually.

Forrest is completely wrong out our ancestors concept of self image. Most of them would have a very good idea of how they looked. There’s more things that are reflective than just stagnant bodies of water.

Just got to the part where u mention the lobster. I actually had a friend who was lobstering in new england and for weeks he had people cutting the doors off his traps to release his catch. He thought it was a fellow lobsterman who was trying to poach his spot till he ended up catching a scuba diver in the act. Turns out the dude was some kind of an animal rights activist. Or at least he thought he was. He ended up bringing the dude to the harbormaster at gunpoint. Pretty sure the guy served jail time for it. Its a serious offense and the guys lucky thats all that happened to him honestly as its most often dealt with on the water and not in court. Messing with a lobsterman’s catch is not a good idea. Especially in New England.

Yeah man I’ve met some Lobstermen in Maine who would neither confirm or deny they had killed someone over trap poaching. Dangerous business
