As a life long democrat (now age 78) I am seriously embarrased by the party in this Supreme Court matter, At least two senators in my party knew of the Ford allegation BEFORE the hearings and they said nothing, They could have asked questions without revealing Ford's name.They also knew that Ford's mother had a foreclosure proceeding tossed out by Kavanaugh's mother, also a judge. This appears to be Ford's attempt at payback. It also is clear that the demecaratic party wants to delay or prevent the nominee from being confirmed. This is reason enough for me to vacate the party and become an independent who will vote the straight republican ticket from now on. I have been angry at what my former party has done since the presidential election and am equally angry at most of the news media for dooing their bidding, I can now see why people give congress single digit approval ratings in the polls.

I've been an independent for years, I've voted for the person, not the party, but since the 2016 election and watching the way the dems have behaved or rather misbehaved, I'll be voting a straight GOP ticket in November. Enough is enough. As the OP said, two dem senators KNEW in July....if they actually wanted to get to the bottom of it, they could have called for an FBI investigation then as Senator Graham said during the hearing. But they waited and made a circus out of this in the hope that they would gain seats in the mid-terms or at least hold onto the ones they had. Attempting to hold onto power and not caring how you do it, even if you have to smear someone like this tells me all I need to know about the dems. I'll never cast another vote for anyone in that party.

I think the response was that it was cause this would get the most attention. Meaning this isn't about justice, it's about vengeance. Think about it. If she could prove this in court, then it wouldn't matter how much attention is given to it, the police and court are supposed to look at the evidence objectively if it is sufficient enough for a charge. But if it's in the public court of opinion, then the threshold is lower. The evidence presented thus far wouldn't stand a chance in court. However, the principles of law do not apply to the public unfortunately. Additionally, there is waaaay too much of a conflict of interest when it comes to the politics of it, especially since she is a far-lefty. You're not just screwing Kavanaugh. For many things, even excluding Roe v. Wade, she screws half of the country (and I would argue that it screws the other half too even if they don't realize it).

And I have an issue with putting a victim on trial. The claims are credible or they aren't. Her political orientation and my personal favorite, what clothes she was wearing, are not valid to whether an assault was attempted. You're a trial lawyer? Okay, do you see this level of scrutiny directed at other crime victims? If a guy gets drunk and passes out in an alley, and someone robs him, while one may personally think it was a bad decision, particularly if he were wearing a suit and an expensive watch, it does not make the person who robbed him less guilty of robbery, and the claim that the unconscious man consented to give his wallet to the stranger would rightfully be laughed out of court. Correct? If I'm raped or a rape attempt is made, why do my politics, donations, and career make any difference? Heck, a cop finally caught time because he raped 17 women, most of whom were prostitutes, drug addicts, or both. But he still raped them.

Constitutionally averse? That's rich considering you lot seem to consider the first and fourth amendments obsolete. Confirming the nature and cause of the accusation (and confronting the accuser) does *not* entail dragging that victim so thoroughly through the mud as to discourage testimony by calling her entire personal life into question, nor does that happen for any other crime. False claims are lower in rape cases than in other cases. The fact that you don't know this makes me think you aren't being entirely honest about your credentials. I'm liberal and pro choice. I've also been assaulted by men whose political affiliations I wasn't aware of. If I see them going up for the Supreme Court, you better believe I'm going to make it known regardless of whose nominee they are. Large unknown payment into her bank account, sure. But I specified what she was wearing and her sexual history and the other things that are used to discredit sexual assault victims and you were super enthusiastic about that. Like I mentioned, because of this tendency to discredit "impure" women, a cop was able to get away with raping 17 of them. Our political, social, and sexual lives are not on trial simply because we've been crime victims. And since is this the tendency, let me assure you of how much I appreciate the Constitution because now I carry a gun to take the whole mess out of it. Lot easier to explain why I shot someone than try to explain that not wearing pantyhose doesn't mean I was asking for it. "Oh, you were just drunk? Tell it to St. Peter."

It's pretty amazing that any man could have 65 women come forward with such stellar reviews of his dating practices. I doubt my ex girlfriends would be as kind if there were 65 of them in high school and college from my dating age of 16 when I started to drive to 21 when I graduated college, which amounts to one happy ex girlfriend about every month. He must have had a pretty good job to afford all those dinners and movies. And that doesn't even count the pissed off girlfriends!

Those 65 women weren't all his girlfriends. Those are women who knew him as far back as high school. Likely classmates, friends, maybe coworkers if he had a job in high school etc. If that many were willing to step forward and vouch for him, that says alot about his character. I myself would vouch for any guy I knew well enough to say he was a decent human being.

Its great that these two ladies come out and give their testament to who Kavanaugh is as a person and the gentleman he was in high school. Thanks to all the women that cherish his friendship and come up against the rhetoric from the mainstream media. It takes strength, determination and the truth. Kavanaugh has great friends.

Even if we were to accept at face value the allegations, they involve the criminal acts of a juvenile. We do not hold adults responsible for criminal acts made when they were juveniles. If anything, the story is one of redemption. Good job, kid! You cleaned up your act and became a responsible and productive citizen. Furthermore, after 35 years, the allegations can not be adjudicated. An allegation is NOT a conviction. We don't deny citizens a job based on an unsubstantiated allegation.

Disagree. The Lender and Borrower made at last minute legal agreement that would/did resolve the issue before the Court. Since there was no longer an issue to litigate, the was no longer a case, therefore the Judge Dismissed the case following Protocol. Had the Borrower and Lender Not reached an amicable solution, the case would have moved forward. Their coming to an agreement before a ruling, that was the Reason the case was dismissed.

KUZIN V KNEE ! ! I believe Dr Ford is confused about a few things that happened in her past. She was even confused about things that she has discussed with her lawyers and members of the committee since this past July. I don’t believe she is lying about someone Attempting sexual assault against her. I also do not believe she is trying to get back at his mother. If you fact check you will see that the foreclosure case was settled between the lender and borrowers and the case was then dismissed. Everyone here with an extremist opinion whether it’s left or right need to stop relying on social media for information. Only about 20% is even close to correct about anything without a lot of bias being added on the Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Anyone else believe Blasey Ford got a hefty payday for her little charade? Her body language screamed "I'm lying and I'm cute!" She was coached, and had an old beef with Greg's mother, who was also a judge. Apparently, she ruled against her mother, so this was paycheck and payback!

These allegations are a far cry from the Anita Hill -Clarence Thomas situation. This (if true) was back in HIGH SCHOOL!!! What are we going to do next, condemn someone for taking a toy from a girl in kindergarten??

One incident 35 years ago when he was a kid does not constitute a pattern of harassing behavior. I don't doubt the girl's story nor do I doubt Kavanaugh's inability to remember the incident. However, I do doubt its significance to the current nomination to the Supreme Court because it was apparently an isolated incident many years ago.

Using drugs to party in high school is one thing that people may grow out of as you're suggesting, but statistically speaking, sexual misconduct/abuse is something that normally only gets worse as you grow older. If you find yourself misconducting yourself sexually then you are pretty messed up from the get go. And considering this guy has found himself in positions of power pretty much his entire adult life, almost half of that as a judge, with his urges to dominate and sexually assault already in his nature, those positions of power only serve to make him feel entitled to do so and being a judge, feeling as he is above the rest of society, makes him feel allowed to continue engaging in those inappropriate sexual situations. I definitely think he is a liar since he perjured himself more than once under oath and considering he worked under a judge who also was accused of sexual misconduct only reaffirms the victims claims that he did assault her.

That's hardly "fair" to her as a victim. That being said, that happened 35 years ago as a teen if it did does not demerit a long history of fair and constitutionally correct judgements. Teens make mistakes, sometimes they learn from them. The decision to confirm or not should be based on his career, not a one time incident as a teen, and certainly not as a political weapon by demogogues who are often guilty of far worse.
