LOVE THIS, thank you gary.
I found this useful in the sense that technology is very impressive. I don't anticipate using this feature myself but very fascinating.
This should not be so complicated, my S7 can do this just by saying “shoot”

I recently switched to iphone and was saying various commands that would work on samsung without complicated settings 😢
You are truly amazing in your knowledge. BUT JUST AS IMPORTANT, you speak in a concise manner AND without the 'uhs, ums' and unprofessional manner of presenting information. Thank you!
Awesome info. Thanks
Very useful. Thank you.
Ah this is really great thanks!
I also added it to the “Back tap” action. It will still open the : Shortcuts App before taking it. I love the back tap, and I wish there were one more at least to save for a quick action. I
Thank you!!!
You can aslo use voice command :) i set up for double tap on the back to activate voice control -> commands -> choose your own
Cool idea!
Couldn’t get the Shortcuts version to work but your other version worked wonderfully. Thank you.
If you disable the preview how do you see the picture you are taking? Thought this would be good for my wife but taking selfies but same issue. Tried to make a new short cut without the preview and it defaults to the back camera even though I have chosen the front camera. Thanx for all the great videos.
I set mine up differently, but your concept works.
Very useful. Thank you, Gary! 👍🏻
Imma do this with my iPad if it works?
Fabulous to get the iPhone to start recording video, how do I get it to stop 🙁 using shortcut or voice control ?
Can you use front view camera
Nice to know. But too complicated for my needs. I really need it when I take photos of my paintings and touching the button doesn't cause me any issues or just using the timer so there is definitely no shaking. Honestly, I thought this would have been built into Siri and tried it. Alas, it didn't work, and now I know why. Also, I use ProCam so all this might not work anyway. (ProCam has a lot of grid lines that I need to get the painting lined up and its editing feature has adjustments to straighten the painting. I do wish there was auto-align that sees the edges of the painting and gives me a perfect rectangle alignment) If someone knows how to get this alignment I would appreciate a response.
So on my iPad it only takes a portrait not a landscape even when holding iPad for landscape picture. Takes landscape as normal manually but with this shortcut it switches to portrait? Any ideas?
Hi Garry, it always interesting and instructive to watch your tutorials. This time, however, I don´t quite understand all the hassle. I simply tell Siri to "take a picture" and boem the camera is ready. But perhaps I miss something. In any case thanks for all the great stuff.
Is there a way to setup VoiceControl to take burst picture from the iOS camera app? I tried to setup the custom gesture with the action tap-and-drag to the left from the "Take Button", but it kept tuning camera to video mode. Somehow, it because tap-and-drag to the right which is Video Mode.

I don't think so.
I'm on the newest iOS (Feb '23), and the Shortcuts app doesn't give me the "Continue in Shortcuts app" option that you suggest at the 3:03 point in your tutorial. I've tried "Get My Shortcuts" and "Dismiss Siri and Continue" to no avail. Is there something else that replaced "Continue in Shortcuts app"?

Yes, I think Dismiss Siri and Continue is the way to do this now.
I understand that the point of the video is to take a picture completely hands free, but this is a lot of work to avoid a single tap of the shutter button! I can say "hey Siri - open camera", and then simply tap the shutter. Quite a bit faster than the methods described. Another favorite trick to take a picture is to use the wired headphones that used to come with iPhone. When in the camera app, when the headphones are plugged into the phone, the volume buttons on the headphone cord will also trigger a picture.

But what if you aren't holding your phone? Say you have it set up on a table or tripod?
Hi, one problem- you said,”hit the side button three times,” but it’s Not the side button on my phone, it’s the HOME button! I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working. It’s possible that it’s the side button for phones without a home button. I have the 8+ and kept hitting the side button to no avail. Phones do change, but this is 2022 and a lot of people haven’t switched. Good to clarify when giving info. All those words flashing on and off were making me nuts so I turned it all off. Fascinating video though!
Voice control no longer works in the camera app, just installed iOS 15, any suggestions?

@@hawkstvn54 Not sure what you mean. Did you add that to the Shortcut? If so, just rotate before you save it. You can also just rotate it in Photos afterwards.

My guy is using his mouse on his phone 😂
I’m training Siri to cook me a nice dinner when I come from outside. Does anyone have an advice where I have a failed?

Look in the mirror?
Same with iPad I guess?
Great! But Siri asks to unlock the phone first.
Can you make some for the older generation where you slooooow down? I’m fairly techy, but you speak way too fast for most of us to follow. We didn’t grow up with these gadgets… Or maybe you can point us to someone who can explain this stuff at our speed? Thank You

I hear ya! Locate the settings button on the bottom of the KZread screen. Click. You then have a few options to slow down his speech, including customization. Helps me for sure. Good luck.
Apple will release voice activated shooting methods in their camera app after 10 years and then brag about it.
This feature is standard on droids. I have lived without since I changed over to Iphone. I have been trying this for an hour. IT DOES NOT WORK. Thanks anyway.
Your screen looks completely different from my iPhone 13 Pro Max.... 1:31 There is no place to 'name the shortcut'.... and it is at that point I get lost.....

Try starting over again and following along closely. It sounds like you ended up somewhere else.
Interesting but Siri does not understand English
Useful but useless. IN Samsung you just show your hand and it snaps a pic.
To long
That was painful to listen to
