Yeah Cornwall is where I was thinking of. A lot of the roads are only just wide enough for one car and then have a few wider passing places that you have to reverse into if a car comes towards you.

I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this, thanks for sharing. You would have a heart-attack driving the English lanes where I live. I know the USA is a big place but I've passed through much of it and most people have been kind. You too sound like kind people. I hope you enjoyed your stay, and please find some way to forgive those who're unkind in their comments; it's an internet thing, the web just makes some people sick you know.

That road is a pretty luxurious country lane. It's very common to find yourself driving down one half as wide with twists every 20 metres, you then have that awkward mount of the hedge when you come head to head. Then someone decides to make it a bus route!

When you get used to it you realise that you don't have to pull off the road to pass cars. There's a physical phenomenon in which the presence of two cars travelling in opposite directions causes a minor gravitational field which actually expands space slightly and they can fit through. It's never been explained before and its amazing when it happens but it does indeed work.

I love how you called it a trail😂😂 There are places you can reverse into to allow cars to move past. If you aren’t near one you have to reverse until you find one. So many roads in the U.K. were built like this, that it would be too expensive to widen all of them. They were built for horses and carts. I like going along them because they tend to be quite winding and bumpy which is fun! And I enjoy watching out of the window :)
