I think I learned so much from just this one video! I like that you brought the photo into view several times and demonstrated why you were doing what you were doing.. and I love the tip about not charging in with too much water - it sounds simple but for myself having no formal training other than YT videos, that little tidbit hadn't really occurred to me and now I'll be much more cognizant of my water to paint ratio when charging. A Remedy Project I’ve been battling cancer since last year (and before then I was fighting it unknowingly) and I’ve not long ago finished main treatment but won’t finish all adjuvant therapy for a decade. In my case it was hard to do art through main therapy treatments (mushy brain!) BUT the thought of getting well enough to do art kept me going. Good luck!

I really like the natural soft look of reflections, and wondered about painting it in watercolor for a long time, but it seems so difficult. I really like your video, it is very easy to understand and instructional. I can't wait to DO my first water reflection practice! Water isn't blue... The blue color of the ocean is a reflection of the color of the sky, just like our actions are a reflection of our thoughts, our paintings a reflection of our personality, and life itself only a reflection of what we allow ourselves to see... Watercolor reflections made of water itself, definitely my favorite topic for watercolors, it's all so meta... :)

Hi, as I am a self-taught watercolor person, other than KZread videos, I have attempted reflections, in water & recently in an ambitious replica of a log cabin showroom building, in their windows. I did that & some lakeside reflections with NO teaching at all. I just went for it. *You had me saying “wow” at home, by myself, as you made it look simple & easy.* I was impressed with your 1st layers, then it kept getting better. “I do want the thank you package” and I think your items in the give away are supremely generous & intriguing. A thousand “Thank You’s” for teaching me reflections & so much more. I’m going to practice these techniques. Next time I need to paint window reflections I will be ready.

This is the best tutorial I've seen. Thank you! Painting something quite different but this technique is very helpful.

Seeing the two approaches and then the simplified quick reflection step were helpful to me. Thanks very much, and the idea of some white by the bank is such a simple thing that adds a lot to a painting--saving white!. I saw that in a workshop and seeing it again here is reinforcing. I want the thank you package! Congratulations, Steve! That painting makes me miss home. Many a weekend and holiday spent on the lakes in the upstate not far from you growing up...swimming, skiing, fishing, and maybe some cruisin' and sunnin'. Particularly Lake Greenwood. Lots of family picnics with the whole bunch of us...watermelon, fresh churned ice cream, burgers, fried chicken, or even just packed sandwiches and chips. Sometimes whatever it took to get packed and on the lake the fastest!!!
