Ronnie Corbett acting as the foil for Ronnie Barker is a work of pure genius, as is the whole sketch. So completely deadpan throughout: no laughing, no forced humour, just an utter delight to watch again and again

On my trip back to the UK early this year (from NZ) visited the shop that this sketch was based on, it's in Broadstairs. The shopkeeper invited me in when he saw me taking pictures, very proud of it's fame and its just so much like the one in the sketch, a typical hardware shop that has everything including pictures of candles at the entrance. My favorite comedy sketch.

This really takes me back to my youth. Back in the early '80s I used to stay up late on Sundays and watch all the BBC programs shown on WTTW Chicago public television. It would start with Monty Python's Flying Circus at 10:00 pm, then I'd watch Dave Allen At Large, The Two Ronnies, Fawlty Towers, Are You being Served?, Dr. Who and sometimes Blake's 7. I was in junior high school so it was way past my bedtime. I had an old color TV in my room, and I'd stuff a towel or blanket under the door to hide the light, sit with my nose almost against the screen so I could keep the volume at an absolute minimum level, and I'd hold a pillow on my knees to laugh into. I wouldn't get to bed until 1:00 or 2:00 am, and I'd be a zombie by the end of the school day, but it was well worth it.

Still brilliant all these years later! I love the part on 2 minutes 'saw-tips,' - Ronnie C makes a monumental effort not to break out laughing / smiling!

"Got any 'O's?" I mean seriously, that had ne laughing my arse off. Undeniably brilliant comedy sketch. I don't want to count how many takes they had to do on this sketch bur Mr Corbett almost lost it with Saw Tips. Priceless.
