Two local middle schoolers among finalists for national STEM award

Two young Massachusetts scientists were named finalists of the 2023 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge for their research into technology that could mitigate the effects of climate change. Middle schoolers from across the country participate in the annual premier STEM competition. Johan Coisman, a 6th grader from Weston, tested artificial clouds that could cool down the earth and Stephen Cronin, a 7th grader from Norwood, researched making a geoengineered curtain to slow glacial melting. The two joined Craig LeMoult to discuss their projects and their hope for the future of climate science.
