Two Important Vowel Sounds in Modern RP British Accents

Remember, you don't NEED an RP British accent to speak English well... There are loads of accents out there! I'm just here to help people who have a love for modern versions of RP.
Pronunciation course: www.etjenglish.com/
These two techniques and vowel sounds will instantly make your accent sound more British! Practice these to make your accent clearer and more understandable.
You will learn about the short vowel, in words such as 'hot' and 'not', as well as an important technique involving the SCHWA sound.

I'm always in love with British accent, especially the southern one, like you have. However, American accent was easier, so in the past I used to use more of American pronunciation. But when I spoke, I pronounced a few words in British pronunciation unconsciously (maybe I was influenced by British TV shows that I've watched). My British friend was the first one who noticed me that. So right now I'm trying to use British pronunciation more consistently, but still mixed with American accent. And my American friend told me that I was more natural when I was speaking with American accent. Hence, I'm confused whether I have to keep improving my British accent which I love, or back with an American accent which is easier and more natural.

Very British and I agree with you! I came to the UK and I found myself having a very British accent which I love it. I moved to the North America and live there and people thought that I am British, which I am not; nonetheless the British accent is my identity. British accent is purest English and has a very specific identification.

That was great advice. One of the sounds I've tried to master to sound more British is the /əʊ/ diphtong, though. It really sounds very different to the American version and, to my ears, it's as British as it gets and helps me sound less Spanish.

What a great video. Nicely done. I think the schwa is always relevant. Learning the British ɒ sound intentionally over the North American ɑː sound seems like an unusual choice if someone wants a good international generic English style. But of course you pointed out that it isn't necessary at all. Keep up the good work
