Two Important Vowel Sounds in Modern RP British Accents
Remember, you don't NEED an RP British accent to speak English well... There are loads of accents out there! I'm just here to help people who have a love for modern versions of RP.
Pronunciation course: www.etjenglish.com/
These two techniques and vowel sounds will instantly make your accent sound more British! Practice these to make your accent clearer and more understandable.
You will learn about the short vowel, in words such as 'hot' and 'not', as well as an important technique involving the SCHWA sound.

ETJ is truely British. His clear vocal sound is worthwhile and more helpful for the learners.
Listening to a British native speaker like you is like listening to a song which makes you happy.
I accidentally ran into your channel. And I found all of your videos extremely useful. It would be great if you made a video about pronunciation "ing" and "ng" on the end of the words. Thanks a million)

And when some guys say : hmmm you mix 2 accents, American and British 🙄🤨😒 😞 it is quite hard, bcs I am Brazilian and normally in Brazil we are used to learn more American English. Now I am living in England, actually I am living here more than 5 years and my accent is a mess lol

OMG ditto! Though the difference is that I am not living in England nor visited it😢 But since I'm learning British English and my country is following the standard American accent --- you know, I just can't help but mix them 😅😅

Hi! I feel you as all my life i have been listening and speaking american English and it was quite a shock for me when I moved in England. They don't really like the american accent so each time I speak I try to cover it as much as I can so that I sound more british but it can be a bit stressful sometimes...

@@iuliamarinescu864 OMG, we actually have the opposite situation, in my case it is kind of weird to hear British accent so I kind of try to lessen my accent to match American whenever I speak in public but there are words I can't help but say it it British accent 😅

Thank you, as usual it’s very useful.x
Very Helpful and clean channel . thanks a lot.
I'm always in love with British accent, especially the southern one, like you have. However, American accent was easier, so in the past I used to use more of American pronunciation. But when I spoke, I pronounced a few words in British pronunciation unconsciously (maybe I was influenced by British TV shows that I've watched). My British friend was the first one who noticed me that. So right now I'm trying to use British pronunciation more consistently, but still mixed with American accent. And my American friend told me that I was more natural when I was speaking with American accent. Hence, I'm confused whether I have to keep improving my British accent which I love, or back with an American accent which is easier and more natural.
I am Regina Lancaster Jones... well your english is fantastic !!!! someday I will take classes with you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!hopefully soon... I was born in Guadalajara Mexico... long story.. Thanks for helping us to get really good english ( Michael is my husband )
Thank u sooo much sir.expecting ur videos everyday
Hi Elliot! Thanks a lot for yet again another good lesson! I always look forward to you next video. It really has helped me a lot moving to UK and having an american accent. I would be so happy if you would do a video about pronouncing difficult words like "AVAILABLE". I always have difficulties with this word lol..
thank you for information about accent..really useful😊
Very useful, thank you. I've seen your vedio for a long time.
Thanks Elliott ! ❤
you have to make the videos everyday! because I love the way you teach us 😊😉
I really like ETJ English , thank you so much!
I learn a lot thanks to you. Cheers from Argentina Elliot. 🇦🇷🇬🇧
Your videos are awsome , thank you so much!
thanks soo much this is really helpful💕🌹
Hey Eliot , i'm mexican and y never forget your videos. Thanks you are the best
Very British and I agree with you! I came to the UK and I found myself having a very British accent which I love it. I moved to the North America and live there and people thought that I am British, which I am not; nonetheless the British accent is my identity. British accent is purest English and has a very specific identification.
I still have to realize that you were an emo, I mean I was too. However I loved your video about listening practice, it is always good to hear some good British videos! ... and I obviously love your channel; really I improved my pronunciation so much and I discovered a lot of UK expressions 🤩. Keep on enjoying people, you're so into it !
You are the best ever.... thanks for every thing
You're really my favourite teacher Thanks a lot for today's lesson Also I'm saving money for your course , hope I can make it From Egypt 😆😁
My accent is very American because I learned to speak English the American way. But, I have always been fascinated with the British way of talking. I can easily switch between American and British pronunciation and your online courses are quite validating of how I have learned to speak like a native of either country!
I love your videos ❤️❤️
Thanks Elliot!
Hi mate! You are great teacher. I'm from Brazil.
The video is so useful for an English student :) thank U 💜
Thanks
Thank you teacher.
i think that you should make more videos about listening skills because i do love your pronunciation so much :< see you in the next longer video ;) cheers
Most of the Thai people have problems with these pronunciations even the R sound, but now I have learned from you. Thanks
Your English is really British. I like british accent. Although I don't currently possess the ability to sound more beautifully British but with your courses I could brush my pronunciation up. Cheers.....!!!!!!!!!!
A very useful video I need more pronunciation videos to improve my English speaking
Elliot you're really great..
Cheers great work!😊
Thanks. Just amazing 😜😜😜
so cool!! thank you here I always save ur video offline😁
Thank you
That was great advice. One of the sounds I've tried to master to sound more British is the /əʊ/ diphtong, though. It really sounds very different to the American version and, to my ears, it's as British as it gets and helps me sound less Spanish.
Hi Elio, thanks for your useful videos!! do you have your podcast?
The best ever teacher on KZread.
Thanks for the great video
Great tip! Thanks a lot :)
I like to listen to you, Eliot. You are great speaker.
I really get a benefit , thanks amillion .
Great video!
What a great video. Nicely done. I think the schwa is always relevant. Learning the British ɒ sound intentionally over the North American ɑː sound seems like an unusual choice if someone wants a good international generic English style. But of course you pointed out that it isn't necessary at all. Keep up the good work
I love that accent!
Elliot is handsome when he speaks and his voice is magnetic. This makes him the the best pronunciation teacher.
