As a Criminologist, I have to say Niall is a really well informed, fair and balanced journalist, a rarity in crime journalism

There was knife crime last week too where regular irish people saved lives but we cant mention them or the man who weilded the knife...thats a true crime

I think there must be reporting restrictions, except on Twitter/ X it seems. For balance, two non-Irish people also helped save lives (men from France and Brazil).

@polly6336 yeah saw that but they were all over the news the next day, but the Irish man who restrained the attacker and laid on top of him hasn't been spoke about nor has any information about the attacker been brought up other than "mental health"

@@neilwalsh1427 yeah I saw that some of the people who intervened got more attention than others, which isn't fair unless that's their personal choice (to stay anonymous). The police won't give any information of substance until he's charged. That's standard operating procedure. Just a quick aside: Gardai are obliged to try to keep everyone safe, and that includes any family members associated with the attacker. I think that might be another factor in keeping his ID quiet, bearing in mind there have been credible threats to his life and he's under armed guard. The talk of mental health was about the Algerian man who wasn't actually involved, I believe.

The people involved are the ones responsible for the lawlessness ..

If the guards arrested someone on the bikes it would turn into a huge mess with tensions/emotions running high already. Also showing up with 20/30 guards prior would be said to be heavy handed. The guards can't win in that situation.

At least there was no Hate Speech..

It would be crazy for the Gardai to intervene during a funeral. It could provoke a riot. The same with the funeral of Alan Ryan. Gardai didn't intervene there, but did take down the registration plates on cars parked around at the funeral 🛑

How come you're not out protesting every week against the hundreds of white Irish men who have filled our streets with drugs, turning our children into drug mules and addicts? Oh, silly me. There's no political and anti-immigration spin you can work up off the back of that. What was I thinking. For a second, I thought you actually cared about children's safety, but it seems it's only when it suits you. Ireland First, EDL, Maga...all the same. Next!

So Derek Boyd who was in possession of an illegal firearm and shot dead his sister, was sentenced to a derisory 2 years, just sums up how low society has descended to immoral levels. 2 years?!! He should have got at least 7 years for the firearm and at least 20 years for the death. No wonder Dublin is broken if the law is complicit with effectively turning a blind eye to bad behaviour. 2 years is stunning for a death. My goodness!
