Two-Handed Bowling Advanced: The Drift Step

Спорт

Have you ever wondered why Jason Belmonte drifts left when starting his approach? This seems to be the world's best bowler's signature movement. This video will explain the benefit of the drifting approach for two-handed bowlers, and how to control it. After the video, you might have a new advanced technique for your bowling toolbox.

    Whats wierd is I watched this video and I qas like omg this is all bs.... after the video ended I got up and tried it a few times. It removed my twisting motion on my release and improved my aim alot. It also made my arm swing so natural and it removed me muscling the ball because my nonbowling shoulder was easily in line with my chin at my swings apex. Which helped me retain the energy of my ball arms swing without muscling it. Great video. Thank you!

    I've recently switch to two handed about a month ago after nearly 4 years of one handed and I have always drifted some to the right so perhaps this would help my accuracy some and possibly cause me to end up on a similar board to where I started, or at least closer.

    I use a 4 step approach, I've struggled to make this work as starting with my right foot seems to open the hip and allow for a consistent release. I struggle with hitting my arrow target, usually missing left by 2 boards, could this be from my hip position at the point of release?

    Hi Keith. If you are using 4 step approach and still want to try drift step, I think let's try placing your left foot at the drift position right from the beginning. It means there will be a gap between your left and right foot. Then you your first step will be from your right foot. If you want me to have a closer look, please send me some your videos thru my instagram: instagram.com/_happybowler102_/

    Good question Calvin bro, at the moment I haven't been able to imagine how to implement the drift step with the 4 step approach. Let me think about that a bit. 😂

    @BowlismOutlaw thank you for getting back so quick I wasn't sure either so I've been practicing a 5 step instead of a 4. The only way I think it could work would be that step 2 is the drift step.

    @calvinwilkes7566 I think adding 1 more step as the 1st drift step would not ruin the rhythm of the 4 step approach 😀 Just consider it as a kick-start step.

    Why do you drift step sideways or even backwards in your other videos?

  • @BowlismOutlaw

    @BowlismOutlaw

    Жыл бұрын

    Ah you finally noticed that bro 😁 First of all, this is my very personal technique. There's a reason behind it. I used to have longer 1st and 2nd step which ruins my timing. I tried multiple ways to fix it but they're not quite effective. So I came up with an idea of stepping backward and the result is my first 2 steps become shorter which is exactly what I want :D So I applied it. Also, when stepping backward, I have an "impulsive" feeling when entering the release phase which I feel good for my release, ball speed and power :D This is a little bit different from other bowlers' norm but it works for me hehe. Finally, I just want to say that the drift is still the drift no matter forward or backward :D
