Takes me back. A child of the 80’s

As a young metalhead in the 80s there were few new wave songs I admitted to liking, but I would tell anyone I loved this song and It's My Life by Talk Talk.

I was something of a metalhead but I loved the Twins, Duran Duran, Level 42 etc. All of them were great songwriters and musicians.

"No Doubt" made their own cover version of it's my life

I love this one! I started singing it, when I saw the thumbnail and the name of the song. I had not even pushed play yet! LOL Doctor Doctor is another one you should listen to by them.

I remember cruising down the highway in route to the Smoky Mountains in dads Le Car. Just got my license and it was 1am in the morning when this came on the radio. Very memorable backpacking trip.

My kids use to love this song…. word for word! Then of course mom learned the words too! “Hold me now” “Hold my heart!” Cute song!

Now ,I was born in 1975. I really appreciate these videos by you two and others. They make me pay attention to the details of the songs that I may have missed. Also,when I'm alone, I have companions to listen with. You guys are great and thanks!

these two girls really get this song, it's a sad song but listening to it makes you feel very good. The 3 members of te band are likeable and the arrangemets are spot on and clever

Man, I remember listening to this song during art class. The teacher had a radio and we listened to it while doing our art projects. I was like 14.

One of the best songs of my teenage years in the 80,s Many a dance at the disco to this one !

The extended version is really great all the way to the end their album of extended versions is fantastic I was a Rush Pink Floyd fan but loved dancing to the Thompson Twins

Is your mom a GenXer? In her 40s? Many of us loved New wave music when we were kids ('80s) 😆. My kids like it, too. Lot of new wave songs are kind of melancholy, happy sad. Hard to explain, but yall were right. Lol. We just danced to it.

80's did a good job of making some sad lyrics sound happy. Simple Minds with Don't You and almost any New Order song.

Oh my, this song takes me back to my teenage years. I recall when hearing this song for the first time. New Wave music was starting to become popular in the early 80's and Thompson Twins were a big part of it. I always enjoyed listening to this song and singing along to it. The percussion kit was one of the most unusual ever.. it is responsible for some of the different sounds you were hearing. Great reaction BTW!!!

My favorite 80's New Wave song

This came out when I was a senior in high school. They played this video a lot at that time on mtv, love it!!!

Into the Gap: 1984 album. Was and Still a good album by Thompson Twins. Brings back a lot of good memories. I was a 9th grader then. You girls bring back tears 😭 to my eyes and reminds me when I was your age at the time. “Keep up the good work” ✌️😢🙏😇👍

Hi, Mia and Juliet 😃 Thank so very much by sharing this with all people out in the world, who had this lucky chance to grow up in the '80s . That song throws me back (and I hope many many others too) to a time, when life was easy and not that complicated like in those days . Weekends were planned for parties or concerts . Here in Germany, in the first half of the '80s, shops were opened from 09:00 am to 06:30 pm over the week . Saturdays from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm . Anyone remembers ? I guess, everybody remembers its time in its century . 🙂😀😄 👍👍👍👍👍

Had the pleasure of visiting your wonderful country (Munich) in the Summer of 1989..Worked in a factory for a few months with 5 others (all Irish) with differing levels of German between us. It didn't matter. We were welcomed with open arms. Memories of Euro '88 we're still strong obviously. Sadly we won't be returning in 2024..

'We Are Detective' is a fun song by them :)

The falsetto part of the song was epic.

My favourite by this group is one of their lesser known hits…Sister Of Mercy…. Tells a sad story to a beautiful melody.

One of the most upbeat songs ever is actually very depressing. The BeeGees "Staying Alive" is about someone who's life is going nowhere, somebody help me, I'm just staying alive.

Hi girls your right that there certainly was bickering. As the true story behind the song and inspiration for it came from Tom and Alannah from the band. Tom and Alannah who later married and had two kids together had a big argument at the time. The song was about making up after the argument. And what it feels like to get back together after separation.
