Two girl gorillas wanna hang out with the baby, but they gotta get the momma gorilla's okay first.
Both sisters are interested in the newborn, but the mother protects the baby and doesn't allow the sisters to approach or touch the baby freely. Zola tried to kiss the baby without Tamidol's permission and got punched by Tamidol. Sister Nala eventually earned the mother's trust, allowing her to get close to the baby and even kiss the baby😘.
In GaiaZOO, a baby gorilla was born on April 9th. This marks the first birth of a gorilla in nearly ten years at the Kerkrade NL, and it's an endangered western lowland gorilla.
The father of this baby gorilla, Lomako, arrived in Kerkrade in the spring of 2022. He took over the leadership role after the passing of Makula, who died in June 2021. This is Lomako's first offspring. As for the mother, Tamidol, this is her second baby.
The baby is a boy👦, his name is Makongo

Nala is so gently affectionate towards her mother and little brother. It’s a joy to see this love. I felt sorry for Zola getting punched. Mom gorillas are so protective of their babies!

one of the sadder dynamics of captive gorillas is females who grow up and have to stay with their mothers and fathers and do not get become mothers themselves as they mature. Happy to see that this troop has a had to put a new mature silverback in that is now leading it. This mom is amazingly settled and the look on her daughters face when she is allowed to be close to baby is amazing. She is smiling ffs. I did not know that gorillas even had the muscles in their faces to smile.

Nala is indeed very happy; she can't help but constantly want to kiss the baby's head. Tamidol's eldest daughter loves her siblings very much🫶😍😍❤️🥰. We can already start imagining scenes of Makongo chasing his sister around when he grows up🤣🤣🤣.

That is absolutely not true for most modern, reputable zoos. If the zoo is a member of the AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) then the gorillas all participate in the SSP program (Species Survival Plan). This program basically moves animals around to other zoos so that they have an opportunity to have offspring with an animal that is thr best genetic match for them.

What a handsome and alert baby boy Makongo is. It was heartwarming to see that Mother Tamidol finally allowed her daughter Nala to give her baby brother a 💋. Tamidol is a very protective Mother of her baby and maybe in the future she will allow Zola to do the same. ❤️🦍

Zola is still too eager😅; Nala spent a long time by her mother's side before getting her approval🤝. Zola just wants to touch or even kiss the baby as soon as she approaches😅. Tamidol definitely won't allow it ✅, but maybe Zola will earn Tamidol's trust later on👍🫶❤️🦍.
That little brother gorilla will be running around soon enough keeping everyone on their toes…..driving his big sisters crazy.

There are so many others ,but not everyone posts on a regular basis, so I watch repeats sometimes, too. I guess you could call me obsessed with gorillas...lol😄

I love how she reasures her daughter that she still loves her then allows her to kiss him. It’s odd because my daughter was several years older when I had my son but I automatically knew she would never hurt him. Well until they got older 😂

It looks like Nala is ready to become a momma herself. Hopefully one day she will get a chance. I feel so bad for Kokomo who is part of the Haoko troop because she is so ready to be a mother as well but until the zoo finds her a silverback to be with she's unfortunately not going to have the chance. I hope eventually they get the chance to become mothers one day.

I am an old lady and we elders sometimes want to help talented younger folks be more successful in their endeavors by making suggestions. It's how we were often taught in school. My comment was to suggest that you may be able to encourage more subscribers if the narration had a better English translation; for example, word placement, verb usage, etc. Accents are just fine and many listeners often seem to enjoy them as it adds a different "ambiance" to the narration. I wish you much success and thank you for caring about animals that need our help to survive. I subscribed and asked for all notifications.

While that may sound like an excuse, there are many people from non-English speaking countries who speak excellent English. Most of my narratives are aided by Google Translate, along with my poor English, just to barely convey what I want to express to the audience.
