I am screwed. I had a 75" Sony. Dead. Bought a 85" Samsung. Only 4" taller, no problem. I have a custom cut out for the mount for that perfect against the wall look. HUGE PROBLEM. Samsung places their wall mount holes off center HIGH vs Sony being dead center. Result, TV will not fit. Too low. NO ONE makes an articulating mount with vertical adjustments! This is going to cost me $1,000's to have rock replaced and new cut out performed. BTW, the changing the screws on the mount doesn't work in this case since the screws are in the upper and lower corners of the bracket. Does anyone know of a vertical adjustment mount? I need 6 or 7" up

@@barrythehatchet1380 you can make your own little extension. Fabricate a little 2" by 9" long piece for each side and use a m8 bolt and nut on it to attach to your current bracket on each side and it will extend any mount to make it work for something like that.

@@BTheInstaller Thanks. I went to Lowe's and got 14 gauge slotted bar. Test fitted, and cut to length. After cutting, I used a chisel to give a slight bend down the edge to add rigidity. Worked perfect. I had to change some spacers, but everything looks great. I wish the mounting manufacturers offered this for the people that don't have the metal tools needed. Especially now that I learned that some TV manufacturers use off center (high or low) hole patterns.

@B The Installer when lowering the backplate would you be concerned with splitting the stud. I plan on using your method but the top screw to the bottom is about 4 1/2" apart. Do you think having three holes in the stud 4 1/2" apart would be ok?

Good tips to remember! I just had a new TV installed using the same wall bracket that was already there. I knew that the previous owner had used a sturdy mount and the cords were hidden behind the drywall so I was able to size up from a ten year old 32" Emerson to a 43" Sony x85j.without relocating anything. I do think the new TV is now sitting a little higher but am overall happy with it . I would definitely get a more adjustable bracket if I sized up again, though! Thanks to you, and my neighbour, I did have the confidence to do it myself rather than trying to get hold of a technician.

I was lucky and had a LG OLED C9 as my first OLED on a TV entertainment stand. That is when I noticed the LG OLED mounting points are very low on the TV. Upgraded to a LG OLED 77C1 and was able to mount the TV to account for the extra low mounting point for the perfect viewing angle when sitting on the sofa. I might have to adjust my mount if I ever upgrade to G-series OLED with normal mounting points.

Dunno if you'll see this comment but I have a question. In my home office / music studio / play area (where I play video games since my wife doesn't really care for them), I have my desk up against a wall with a rectangular, exposed brick cutout. Since I purchased a PS5, I want to buy a TV (probably a 48" LG A1 - vertical height 24") and mount it above my monitor on the drywall, and wall-mount my consoles next to it. From the top of the monitor, the drywall is about 18" up (meaning the center point of most mounts would be about 24" up) and 12" back. I feel like a standard mount would end up being about 9" too high on the wall (if perfectly centered, and the A1's VESA mounting points are low, so probably more like a foot or more). I've looked at MantelMount, but I don't really need it to come off the wall so much (and it comes out too far). I just need it to be moved vertically downward. Do you have any suggestions for good mounts that would allow the TV to be adjusted up to a foot lower (and possibly with some tilt)? I'm not interested in ceiling mounts. Thanks!

Is there a way to get tv brackets (like the ones you moved) so that I can have more options to raise them up and lower my tv? I have my tv on a fireplace but the problem is i have a niche to store my devices above fireplace, so I already have the mount as lowest it can be… but if brackets on tv give me the option for the tv to sit lower and cover the niche so devices are hidden behind tv, that would be perfect solution.

I'm just checking to be sure, but... for the best "in room" height, wouldn't you or someone else in the house be best to sit comfortably on the sofa, and use a laser point or bubble level to work out from a straight line coming from their eye and point straight at the opposite wall for an horizontal view where the absolute dead centre cross-hair or bullseye would be the middle of the TV? And the set would be, flat against the wall ? For best contrast levels and no neck pain/strain while sitting down or slouchy? And moving the set up or down from that seating area position would serve as 'fashion over function?' Unless this is point of the video? To have what looks right by "eye" as a piece of furniture? Like when customers ask for the set above a fire place? Just to be clear this pure query and ways for me to gain formidable knowledge and experience. Its a Cool video and great tips for everyone no matter their situation and an absolute thumbs up button 👍

NIce video. When I mount a TV, I figure out where on the wall I want it's top and bottom, then I center the brackets on the TV in the middle and measure from the top of the inside of the hook on the bracket to the top of the tv. Then measure down that far on the wall from where I want the top of the TV to be, and that tells me where the top of the mount should be. Works every time. Reversing direction on the brackets is fun. Got it wrong once. Down is up, up is down.

If you lower the backside backers below the tv. Doesn't that give you an option to mount your something ND bar below the tv. I've seen this on some tvs, not sure if they mount it directly into the tv or not. Bar bar came with a mount system, but it is for mounting it into a wallm so if we extend the back brackets below tvm perhaps thats gives us options to mount the sound bar onto that

Please help - mounted TV 2 inches too low. There's no wiggle room on the TV brackets so have to adjust the wall mount. The lag bolts are like 3.5 inches deep. Is there any risk to drilling the new holes just 1.5 - 2 inches above the old holes? It's a 75 inch TV so I worry it will put too much stress on the stud with the old holes so close. Should I plug the old holes with dowels first to reinforce the stud?

I have the exact same problem with my new 85 inch TV which is sitting on the highest and lowest holes on the bracket which connects to the TV. No wiggle room there. And I realized my couch headrest is obstructing 2-3 inches of TV at the bottom if I view TV anywhere behind the couch. I was thinking of purchasing an optional bracket accessory which I can connect to all 4 holes of the TV and lower the existing bracket. But I didn't find any such accessory. I dont want to drill another 2 big holes just 2inch apart from existing holes. Did you find the solution for it?

Why not just cut the 2 mounting brackets on TV# 1 so you could raise it and save having to Drill extra holes in the wall set the existing mounting bracket at the height you want and then cut the lower excess off. The consoles can lay on there side and ideally you want the screen at Center or just below center at eye level when seated so as not to have to kink you neck back to watch the Tv or game, when I bought a Projector screen I had it custom made so that the center of the screen was at eye level when seated, the same principle should apply to a tv imo. I would've drilled new pilot holes for all 4 lag bolts for maximum strength. There was no reason to reuse the holes, and as he even said, you have to put spackle on the lower holes anyway.

I never understand why people mount their tv's low on a wall. Mine's about 180cm off the ground and it's gonna be perfect for anything from a 32 to a 55 inch one. Heck maybe even a 75inch one would fit but i don't want a tv for a wall. No, for the latter i'd think of a projector to be in use with an appropreate reciever than a tv.

The top of my knees is 60cm (almost 2 feet for Americans) and is the bottom of my 190cm (75 inch) TV is at that height on a stand. As a 183cm (6 feet for Americans) guy seated on my couch, I'm looking at the middle of that screen, sitting up straight. My 167cm (5.6 feet) wife has no issues even though the centre is slightly above her view.

Especially in todays world where a lot of people are hunched over their phone screens for a good portion of the day. My sitting height is also similar since i'm 176-177cm or inbetween 5ft 9inch and 5ft 10inch.
