Two Days in Athens! The Acroplis and the Athenswas Hotel

In this final installment in our Greek adventure from late September and early October 2023 we are spending 2 VERY full days in Athens! We check into the Athenswas Hotel and share our experience with a private tour guide at the Acropolis. We are so grateful for this amazing trip and I hope to come back to this beautiful country someday.

This is taking me back to our years in Northeast Italy (when my kids were nearing 8-10😂) and I would literally search for ancient sites and we would spend a day just walking around ancient ruins, museums, and churches. Such perspective to understand how many centuries we've been figuring out life in this chaotic world. ❤

Oh what an absolutely wonderful experience; since I was a child I`ve been fascinated with ancient civilizations and am totally envious of this trip and your european cruise. It always amazes me how larger than life some of these structures actually are, and how incredible the engineering and architecture of the time was. Truly amazing, thankyou for letting me tag along!

I told Nicki her scrunchie made it to Greece LOL. I feel like maybe Athens is one area of Greece that Marc could handle touring. It looks so beautiful!

Thanks for the great video Jen. We just returned also from our Mediterranean cruise and adventure. We added 3 days post cruise in Athens. I agree it’s a very special place. We were there Mid October, also had beautiful weather. Watching the video instantly took me back. We walked down many of the same streets that you and Scottie did. You definitely get your steps in, walking Athens. oh the hills!🥰

Aw, thanks for sharing your visit. It brought back wonderful memories. We loved Athens. I think you made the right choice regarding which museum to visit. Both are amazing but the National Museum has a much bigger collection encompassing all of Greece. We did love the cafe restaurant at the Acropolis Museum. It had the most amazing view of the Acropolis. We felt like we could reach out and touch it.

Jen! Great vlog of your time in Athens. You choose well in your timing. When we were there in August the crowd was so thick you could have walked on their heads. 😂 Great that you got to go to the museum too. We were supposed to go but it was closed or something according to the excursion desk. Oh, and great photo of you and your hubby at the Parthenon. ❤

You could pass for Greek you know. When I saw you in the morning wearing your sunglasses, I could have mistaken you for Nana Mouskouri when she was younger. Great video. I’ve only been to Athens once (year 2000), it looks to have changed for the better. Less like a building site! I remember the drivers were scary on the roads lol.
