Good day!
Today we are back with a bit of a different one again! in today's video myself, Wes and Steven spent the night on the boat at Great Barrier island. This is one of my favorite places to visit, from beautiful scenery to amazing underwater life this place has a lot to offer. The weather forecast ended up being slightly average and not what it was forecasted to be but, we made the best of it! We fished in close around the island which produced a few different species for the table. The next morning we steamed out wide hoping to go get a Hapuka. Unfortunately we had no luck on this front but Steven reminded us why we call him "the Shark Slayer" haha he managed to hook up on 3 small sharks while we were out there.
We decided to head back with the weather slowly picking up out wide. But to our surprise as soon as we came into the inshore islands the water just went absolutely glassy! We couldn't resist the temptation and stopped on a bit of foul for a fish. Man am i glad we did! fishing was on fire! Nothing big came out but, almost every drop turned into a fish! the star lure of the trip was the Skilly special 2.0! We combined the Glowbite microflash and the squid micro baits to form an unstoppable little lure!
