Two Days at Scania (Part #1)
Ойындар
Invited by Scania, I spent two days in Södertälje, Sweden visiting the Scania Demo Centre, Chassisporten and exhibited at the Young European Truck Driver competition. During my stay I drove various Scania vehicles around the Demo Centre test track, saw how Scania trucks are assembled, took part in a "Knock-the-King" event, had a go of a Segway and met many of my fans.

Man, these latest generation trucks are so easy to handle. 60 tons, 25 meters long and he drives it with almost zero effort. When i was taking lessons for my class 4 - 4L licence we practiced on 18 meter long, 12 shift manual gearbox trucks and they where a handfull to operate. I even failed the first time i took the final exam and had to wait 2 months for the next one.

Tomaras Theodoros exactly , my first volvo was a manual 16 shifter with ranges , we even did not have servo steering on the wheel , so you had to really work your ass off to get a trailer into a position
Nice driving and best score of the day. Congrats! "-Did you drive a truck in real life? -No. But I've already rolled over a Renault in that hairpin and flew over the bump with a SCANIA, landing on it's side, in a simulator." kappa

Brings me back to when i was in school. Driving these beasts for the first time on narrow roads trying to keep yourself on the road. Thinking about traffic and the manual gears did not help. Trust me manual gears is not easier, it just gives you more to think about. But again now 3 years later it's nothing special and demanding as it used to. I'm not saying it's always a walk in the park, because its not. And it will be atleast 30 years before i can call myself an expert. But truck driving is a very satisfying job. You always miss it when you're gone from it for a while. Wouldn't give it away for anything really! Good job by the way man, great driving ;D Greetings from Norway.
And people say you can't learn real life things in a sim. :) Nice driving. I don't have a driving licenese,(Even though I'm 43...yes, I know, shut up) but I have 3000 hours on my ETS2 sim rig. I would LOVE to try this before I get a license, just to see. :)
Great Job Squirrel! I wish they would do these 60 ton loads in ETS2 without having to do mods.
Paul, what an amazing experience to share with all of us trucking enthusiasts! Looks like you had a great time and also drove that Scania like you had years of experience. Good to see this kind of content too.

That was amazing, took me back to my childhood of travelling over many parts of Europe, Germany, France and Spain just to name a few. From about the age of 11 to my early teens I went with my dad and his Scania (this was back in the 90's) it had 500BHP. The trucks back then weren't as "high tech" as the ones to day though, however we did know how to disable the limiter (pull fuse number 10 if I remember correctly)
