TWO DAY HORSE AUCTION! - Part 1 - Beautiful Appaloosa With Rare Prophets Thumbprint!
We went to another horse auction and found a beautiful Appaloosa filly! We were shocked when we found a rare PROPHETS THUMBPRINT on her shoulder! We also looked at the sweetest Halflinger mare, a gypsy vanner mare and foal, plus quite a few ponies! This sale had over 400 horses.

I'm very upset that the person selling the pony with pneumonia placed a heavy saddle on him... it's difficult enough for this precious pony to breath as it is and with fever should have received medical treatment before selling; as well as, placing the other horses there in harms way... shame on that person!😡

That pony should not have even been at the sale. It should have been home in a nice warm barn with a blanket over it and lots of fresh water and hay. Plus having a vet visit so it can get the antibiotics it needs to get well!

BONANZA answer: Michael Landon selected a beautiful Paint horse for his new mount, in the show he is called Cochise, named after the famous Indian. He stood 15. 3 hands high and weighed 1,150 pounds. Michael rode Cochise the first six years of Bonanza, who had two stunt Paint horses double him, the first season, in June-July 1959 at Sand Harbor and Tahoe Meadows, and the second Paint double used in the fourth season at Truckee and Iverson Ranch in 1962, fifth season again at Iverson Ranch in 1963, and seventh season at Red Rock Canyon, California in 1965.

I'm an Appaloosa Gal, and I would have given up to $ 5000 for her. Her breeding alone. Gorgeous pedigree. She also has a beautiful confirmation and color. I currently only have 3 here at home. My husband had a heart attack a few years ago. Not knowing his prognosis afterwards, we divested our herd. We only kept our riding horses and my young started gelding. Now my husband is fine, lol! So we are at the start over part. I have one young bay roan mare I'm breeding next spring. At 57, I don't know how long I'll stay active, but you never know! 😊❤😊

Jill, stay active as long as you can, and then go some more. The minute a person slows, or even thinks of slowing, it's downhill slide, no brakes. Believe me, I've been there. Stopped caring for and riding horses because of my career, thinking I'd get back after awhile, but now I'm 71 years old and stiff as a board with no balance. Just getting on a horse is torture with my arthritis. If I'd never stopped, I'm sure it'd be different. So, lady, keep going!!
I hope whoever bought Pineapple realizes he is sick and gets him the care he needs.

NONE should ever go to slaughter. Owners need to be held responsible for treating their animals humanely. If you can't afford to do that regardless of your circumstances, you should NOT have them. Period. I attend an auction in my state but eat buyers are not allowed to bid. It should be federal law that live horses cannot be shipped to Mexico and Canada for slaughter. Be responsible.

Horses are livestock. Just like cows and swine. As a result, there are byproducts that are overflow. We've raised horses for 25+ years, bought several from kill pens, and sold several through auction.
It's difficult for me to watch these horse auctions. I've been to so many of them in my younger years, looking for tack, and I've seen some just really horrific cases of neglect and abuse go through the auction rings. I do appreciate your comment regarding the ethics involved; the neglect and abuse is the owners' fault, not the sale barn's. As difficult as these are to watch, it's good to see that at least some of the horses and ponies appear to have been well cared for.
Oh, oh, oh, get the Gypsy. Those are my favorite. That brown App is beautiful.

It would be great if Emeri would get her own Haflinger🐎 one day!👏😍😍 Did you know the Haflingers come from Austria and Italy in Europe originally? They may be a tiny bit stubborn sometimes🐴, but have very strong nerves, are very sure-footed and stick with you trough thick and thin. Would be great if one day we would see Emeri with her own sweet "Hafi"😁. Many greetings from your Austrian fans!🇦🇹🤗

I watch Elkhart auction every Saturday night. They get the occasional gaited quarter horse come through there. Pacers generally. It's hard to see because the sales ring doesn't let them really get into a gait a lot of the time, but you can definitely see it sometimes
The 'cremello' you were looking at is actually a gold champagne, which is a totally different dilute gene (read rare). You can tell by the skin mottling or 'freckles' around the eyes and muzzle, as well as the green eyes. A cremello is a chestnut horse with two cream dilute genes. They will always have blue eyes and salmon or pink skin with a cream coloured body and white mane and tail. The only way to confuse a cremello/perlino with a gold champagne is if it also has an Lp and or PATn1 (appaloosa) genes. This might cause skin mottling or freckles and eye colour changes. A perlino is a double cream but has a black gene and agouti (bay gene). This restricts the black to the points, causing darkening of the mane, tail, and points. You can usually tell a cremello from a perlino by the shade of colour of the mane and tail and the legs and ear tips will be slightly darker. Another dead giveaway that this is a champagne is the bay colour of her foal. Champagne is not always passed on to the foal unless the parent is homozygous (has two copies). A cremello or perlino will always pass on one cream dilute gene, since they are homozygous for cream.

We don’t know much about this coloring, but we did have a mare that was registered as cremollo, BUT she did have the green eyes and she seemed to always shimmer, when we had her I wondered about the champagne.

I was thinking cremello that was bred to something black based to make a smokey black (black with a single copy of cream and no agouti) smokey blacks can look like just really sun bleached black horses or they can look more "buckskin".
You know Shae at Free Spirit? Goodness! She's a darling gal who really love's her horse's as you all do. She does wonderful videos. Very considerate of you to think of her. Great horse owners need to stick together and keep putting out the best content possible for the good of horse's everywhere.

Again, Thank you for being compassionate towards these beautiful animals - your attitude of responsible ownership is 100 spot on, in my book. I also like how you explained why some end up in the auction - you are right, unless we personally know the story of why that animal is there, we ought not judge.
Oh JR that Apaloosa was totally gorgeous...she was an investment for sure...I think you should have gone for her..especially with that thumbprint !!..poor Pineapple..could tell it was having difficulty breathing..should not have been at the auction..imagine one of the young foals catching it..felt so sorry for it when it must have felt so 💩ty.. you are right that its the owner who instead of giving and old or ill horse the last act of kindness you send it to auction to get your last bit of money off it probably after yrs of loyal service too..that sway back look skinny too..should be in a retirement pasture not in an auction barn..but that place did look clean and organised...most of the horses looked in good condition too..but gutted you missed the Apaloosa....🇬🇧💞🙏👏🐴🇺🇸 Ps..little Joe's horse was Cochise... I'm an oldie and remember looking forward to a saturday night visiting the Ponderosa...gosh makes me feel very old..🤣

ya'll so cute - learning and sharing as ya go and we're enjoying wifey stating 'oh! let's get her!' soon as she sees one she likes. Shame we can't even out purchase prices across the board. Eastern states paying 3 to 10 times more than lower south prices on good stock. That keeps trickling down here to Texas but we usually won't buy it - pass 'em buy - find a better one for right price. Suppose we should haul our sale stock north east to gain higher prices! have fun ya'll. :)
She’s gorgeous
Oh heck I liked the mule
Don't make us wait too long for part 2!😊. Loved so many of those horses especially the ones you chose. Really like when you explain what you're looking at and what makes you interested.
