I think a Pass It On Versus would be great to see. Two teams each made of one chef and one normal alternating between who's cooking with no communication, then having the third normal judge both dishes at the end and picking a winner.

The roundtable bit at the end was too short. I like seeing the other's reactions when someone says "And then I walked into the kitchen and saw ..." This roundtable focused primarily on the final dish. It would've been nice to see everyone's reactions as Ben read out his notes

I primarily came down to the comments here to say something similar. I like that Ben is explaining his thought process regarding the badge judging, but it took away so much from the actual relay this time. They could've released two videos instead, one with the proper relay done as normal (they do their turns, get proper camera time and then have the usual roundtable) and then a second video with all of Ben's reactions and explanations as to what was happening.

Barry going into survival mode at the end was brilliant for me. While normally being quiet doesn't work well in these kinds of videos, it was surprisingly comedic with Janice and Ebbers' commentary. Also, we finally get the live commentary from someone in another room. Even if Ebbers wasn't actually involved in the creation of the dish.

Janice's sassy voice over Barry's silence is the pure gold in this video

Janice was merciless with Barry when he would not communicate-I love her.

Even though Barry didn't explain anything he did and he over-engineered the dessert he still took charge and pulled everything together. The fact that he didn't get too distracted by either the dessert or the scallops is commendable, and being able to create a tasty main dish from all the separate elements left in the kitchen was quite impressive!

Considering Barry went from having milk bubble over everything and completely losing his head to pulling everything together at the end and arguably saving the dish, he definitely deserves a badge of some sort!

Barry was incredible this whole challenge, the first round where he recognized what was going on and knew exactly what the others had done wrong was stunning

Jamie's "they'll be a muyrdor" at the end was the icing on the cake after Janice's sassy voice over for Barry. Janice should do a whole video of voice over while the normals don't speak at all (giggle)

Barry just steadily nodding while staring off to the distance when Ben revealed he gave himself a 10, might just be the highlight of an episode with so many great moments.

Honestly, I've never been more impressed with Barry than in those 10 minutes at the end.

Ben reminds me of one of those cover teachers when your actual teacher was off who legitimately thought they were a teacher and actually tried teaching the lesson and sit at the desk at the front of the class pretending to write notes whilst scanning the class making sure everyone is sitting in the right seat on the seating plan 😂 no offence Ebbers I’m sure it’s not the worst thing you’ve ever been called but the vibe he gave off in this video with the pen and notepad and the kinda smug look on his face and constant criticism just reminds me of one of the cover teachers I used to have. The literal prayers said outside the class begging for the chill cover teacher who don’t care what happens as long as she can read her book then walking in and seeing this guy pacing around the room telling people how many seconds they’re late to lesson by, complete jobsworth who reminds me of Captain Dozerman from Brooklyn 99, the nutter who was obsessed with efficiency and statistics which eventually led to his passing and the douchebag vulture replacing Dozerman as captain of the 99 and posing yet another roadblock in the way of the detectives

I think Ben expressed here what we've been feeling throughout all Pass It Ons: they just can't keep it simple for the sake of a Pass. And that's true about the chefs, too.

Imposter relay challenge: one chef/normal has to mess up the goal of a specific dish and they have to figure out who it was at the very end. Order is based on hair length

Love getting live commentary on a relay! Can we get one where each person is put into the room together to watch the next person after they have finished their chance to cook?

I think the hard part about “multitasking” when you don’t actually have any idea where you’re headed is very difficult. Realistically you start with some idea where you’re headed and prep. So for me I think coming in after others and having to try to think where you’re going and what your doing and how to work with what you already have is a very complicated process. I think they did pretty good. I wouldn’t have personally wanted to eat any of that but they worked hard!

honestly, never seen barry so focused and multitasking as in the last 5-6 minutes of their time tbh. I was super impressed.

I like the idea of silent Angry Barry with Janice doing the commentary on his actions. I’d like to hear what Janice thinks is going on inside Barry’s brain.

Please give Barry a badge, he deserves a badge after surviving that kinda storm in the kitchen and remained focus...

This video had tons of good content from both an entertainment and educational perspective. Ben's comment about keeping things simple, particularly with the communication handicap inherent to the format was a great "teachable moment". :) Some of the other folks have commented that Barry deserved a badge, but I wonder if Ben didn't award it because he did many things in the last 10 minutes, but maybe not always the right things? To be fair, bringing it all together is a make or break moment, especially if you are working with material that other people have provided you. All in all, even though the Normals might not have performed at Chef-level (i.e. badge-worthy) level of multitasking, for them to have a successful result in a Pass It On with no Chefs directly involved is laudable. :)

I really have to like Barry not talking, that was super focussed and trying to scramble everything into something. You know he's working really hard when he doesn't have time to talk his way though things. but I totally want to see them do it again with James watching... lets face it, we all want to hear that carnage.

My elderly (and very lovely) neighbours just knocked on my door to see if I'm ok. I was yelling "What are you doing with rhubarb? What the HELL are you doing with rhubarb!?!?" during Mike's 2nd turn. They were concerned because I only live with my dog 🤣 I'll have to make them something to apologise .

@@ayotuii but they’re testing multitasking cooking, not multitasking cooking and making a video. Especially for a “normal”, it’s completely unreasonable for them to be expected to multitask preparing two dishes AND explaining their process all within a time crunch. Chefs can barely do it as is.

Barry stole the challenge for me. He’s AMAZING in this challenge, especially towards the end.

I think Barry deserved that 10/10, he saved the day.

Reasons why Barry deserved a badge: 1. Put the bread and butter pudding in a smaller dish to give it a better chance to cook 2. Stopped Mike's "dauphinoise" from overcooking 3. Stopped the cabbage from burning further 4. Paired the rhubarb with the savory dish 5. Showed spectacular levels of industry and multi-tasking in the last 10 minutes to: (a) Plate the bread and butter pudding (b) Make a garnish for the dessert with charred plum, lemon zest, and segments of blood orange (c) Cook the scallops (d) Plate the main course and make the dish look spectacular per Baz's usual plating skills; making the 'dauphinoise', cabbage, rhubarb, and scallops look really palatable Did he deserve a 10? Probably not, considering he overcooked the scallops slightly and did not edit the dessert properly. Does he deserve a badge? Absolutely. Because let's be honest, if either one of Mike or Jamie was tasked with plating up, the food would not have looked nowhere near as good or even taste as decent.

Barry deserved the multi-tasking batch for sure!! He was always thinking ahead and esp the last few minutes where he was so focused and managed to put together a dish out of random things! GIVE BARRY THE BADGE tqvm :)

Angry, focused Barry is my new favourite Barry. Chefs only pass it on please!

It would definitely be interesting to see the contrast of just the Chefs doing the Pass It On. :) It might also be interesting if the Chefs pulled a Baz and intentionally didn't comment, but left it to the Normals to do the live commentary / critique... Perhaps a badge could be awarded if one of them demonstrates a high enough understanding in real time of why the Chefs are doing what they are doing. 🤔

Pass It On (with Commentary) is a nice format! Even in the other episodes, Ben's comments are really enlightening because he helps you understand why the choices made so far work, what you can do when things fall apart, and why the chaos unfolded the way it did!

I think Barry 100% deserved a badge. He went quiet at the end there but he pulled out a lot of multitasking in this one.

"He started strong. Wine." Oh Ebbers you know the key to my heart.

Have to say, Ben's quiet calming voice in between the action was just soooo soothing...

You should do a challenge where the normals have to work together to cook something within a given time limit. Maybe something from the 1912 cookbook. You could award the "Basic Teamwork" badge or "Basic Communication" badge.

I'd love to see a "Chef's Pass-It-On" where the normals get to react BUT the normals get to instigate a switch each at any moment. Chefs each have a total time of 40 minutes (two 10 minute turns each)

Barry deserves a badge for that, especially at the end. He really pulled everything together, kept calm about everything and you could really see the focus and determination to try to fix everything to make two actual serviceable dishes. He multitasked that ending perfectly regardless if the scallops got overcooked or maybe added too much flavor to the dessert, he didn't lose his cool and really did an amazing job. Even when he came into the kitchen the first time, he was trying everything, looking at everything, tried to fix dishes and make them right. He totally deserves a badge for how well he did.

It basically let ben commentate about a dish the whole time Berry plated and I think Berry knew he could rely on Ebbers to cover for him. Just like they do in the Chief V. Chief battle the down time to think and act vs talking to the Camera the whole time.

You should make follow up videos for these where you guys discuss the process, what they were thinking and what ideas they had. Something more in depth like a commentary where maybe they watch the footage and explain themselves and the others get to see what the "cook" was up to. Big fan of Barry pulling the dish together and figuring out the components along the way. He carried the team instead of going after the badge.

I need Ben to do a cooking class and not only teach us amazing recipes but also the know-how for working efficiently in our own kitchens. I need him to comment on our cooking techniques and how to improve that, could you make that happen, guys?

Barry went super Saiyan at the end there. I'm in awe at what he scraped together just given all of those random ingredients

Barry definitely deserves a badge of some kind. He pulled through so hard on that last segment

You know it's a good one when whisking cabbage hardly gets a mention as it's the most normal thing to have happened.

I am so proud of Barry, you could really see how far he has come in this video. Barry should get all the credit and definitely should have gotten a badge.

barry ABSOLUTELY did a 10/10 job, I thought this dish was going to be a MESS all the way through, and then barry comes in like a MONSTER and cleans it all up into a Straight Up passing dish.

This was hands-down Barry’s absolutely best performance EVER! Like he saved Mike and James’ asses 😂

Okay I want more of these, especially with sassy James doing commentary as well.

Barry's apparent inhalation of nitrous oxide immediately before starting his first 10 minutes was likewise astonishing and... perhaps not very refreshing, but definitely comical. 😆

How the hell is Barry just being silent one of the funniest moments on Sorted Food? I love these guys and Barry definitely deserves to be the sous-chef of Sorted Food.

I haven't laughed so hard in while. Barry’s last round and Janice’s timing was utter perfection.

Barry definitely deserved a badge! He saved it at the end and his silence shows how focused he was in trying to salvage the two dishes.

Idk about you but I was so impressed by Barry. Definitely increasing in levels of intelligence

im 1000% ok with barry just focusing instead of talking to us, i mean i wouldnt do it all the time but just trying to focus and save the dish at the end while going for a multitask badge showed just how much he wanted it lol

Barry saved everything. Both times he went into the kitchen he had to do a rescue mission for every dish.

I adore Barry's confidence at the end. he really did pull that together

LOVE THIS. Ben can be harsh…. BUT he’s harsh across the boards which keeps it fair. I like fair. Good work boys and Ben! Can’t wait to see when James is in the observer chair. Would be interesting for everyone to have a turn in the hot seat observing.

I honestly thought Barry would get a badge. Those last 10 minutes were really impressive even if the final result came out a bit a short.

I agree I think he deserves it. Just cause he didn't talk didn't mean he wasn't multi-tasking. He saved that from being a complete dogs breakfast.

Yeah but on his first turn he basially fluffed up And well.. its stil a ooking channel and he didnt talk, which I assume specially for someone like Ben might be a huge malus.

@@Elyanley he did saved the dish completely, it would have went completely the wrong way if he didn’t saved it and the dish in the end would still be the most important as it’s the result. So I think it’s fine for him to not talk ngl

@@delightfultangible3985 Yes but its not about saving the dish but multitasking. Laughing yourself silly that milk boils over? Was also barry. And not talking at all while working - also Barry. From all three he has done the best? Def. better than Mike, Jamie did make fewer mistakes but also blundered a lot. ..honestly, if we go with who did the best kind of view, yes one of the three should get the badge. But that is not the challenge. Its are they on chefs level? And none of the three were. Because of that, it is a harsh judging. Too harsh.. I dunno. I know how my father would have judged them. (he is a retired chef). ..lets say that it would be between a mix of James temper, Bens explanation and lots of cussing. So I am trying too see if from my fathers perspective. Which is hard, because I do want our boys too succeed cx But I don't think this was a chefs level of multitasking.

Barry Deserved the Multitasking Badge cause honestly he god damn saved both the dishes and his final 10 minute were impressive in terms of Multitasking.

This absolutely has to happen again with James giving commentary! It might not be as chaotic, but I'd like to see a chef's only version too!

The Janice voiceover during Barry's silence had me howling with laughter, more chaos like this please! We don't need perfection from you guys, we need more of this hilarious anarchy!
