    (22 minutes in) Thee old "The camera moved" ploy :) lol :) Come on guys be honest..... ya missed didn't ya? :) it's ok to miss..... I missed a stag once and ended up pollaxeing the White stag, standing behind it!!!!! THAT I wasn't meant to shoot :) lol :( But again guys another awesome video, well done, Tahr are an unreal animal to hunt in NZ (SO fast when they decide to leg it). When..... WHEN you come back please take / bring crampons, rope and ice axe! as there is many an under prepared dead man still in those there hills (I'll bloodly send ya mine if I have too).

  • @GrittyGearAndPodcast

    Ha ha! LOL! If I missed I could just edit that out and show you the hit. Nah, these are the problems of being the cameraman and the shooter. Luke wasn’t with us and Ryan doesn’t have any real experience with these fancy cameras we use. If you go back and watch my stuff-I show the misses. Misses happen! It’s real hunting. I wish we had the footage of this though-because that tahr free falls about 100 feet off a cliff. It was a sight to see! But you’re right to tease us about it-if it doesn’t get captured on film you gotta ask yourself, “did it really happen?” It’s a valid question... but the truth is I smoked that bull. 🔥👊🏼😄

  • @GrittyGearAndPodcast

    @GrittyGearAndPodcast

    I honestly love my Stone Glacier pack-I’m not paid by any backpack company. At first, I choose to use Stone because I love the people who work their and what they stand for. The folks at SG are passionate outdoor people with integrity. But after testing the pack on our spring bear hunt, I can definitively say it’s the most comfortable carrying pack I’ve used. The belt design is perfect for me. There are other packs that I really like too-but the SG is the most comfortable (with both heavy and light loads). Lampers loves the SG but he’s also in love with the EXO. I haven’t used the EXO enough to say anything about it. But I’m looking forward to testing the EXO on a future hunt.

  • @GrittyGearAndPodcast

    Hey Clayton! Thanks for watching. The SG bag felt a little too snug during bear season-but the temps were a lot hotter then. The Chilkoot is actually pretty roomy and in those cold, nasty temps in NZ it was the perfect bag. The MTN OPS code changes from week to week. Right now, the code is set to give you free shipping but that’ll change next week-we’ll announce coupon updates on the podcast. But you can always put the code in to see what’ll happen. Sometimes it’ll get you some free extras! Thanks again Clayton!

    Not on this hunt. I like my Stone Glacier 6900 better than my Kufaru for a hunt like this. I also prefer the Seek Outside Cimarron for my tipi-when Kifaru has a shelter as light as the SO Cimarron I’ll be stoked to use it. I also prefer the SG Chilkoot sleeping bag to my Kifaru bag-it’s lighter weight and warmer. But I’d prefer my Kifaru sleeping bag for an apocalypse or if the zombies come... but for now, the Chilkoot does the job better at half the weight for the hunts I’m on.

  • @GrittyGearAndPodcast

    @GrittyGearAndPodcast

    There are no hunting permits required in New Zealand in this area at this time. You can shoot as many animals as you want-the Himalayan Tahr are an invasive species that government actively targets for removal, sometimes using poison and other times shooting from a helicopter.

    tigerknome95 - I’ve got a podcast dropping tomorrow about this shelter. We talk about how much wind and snow it can take. It’s never going to replace a free-standing shelter like a 4-season Hilleberg. But I’d rather be able to burn wood, carry less weight and have a spacious setup. This tipi can withstand some harsh weather though. If a crazy storm hit we would’ve setup the tipi in the tree line, out of the wind or we would’ve found a hut.
