Eivør is Faroese, and some of the sounds she makes is reminiscent of what is called "Kulning", which is an old Nordic way of communicating over long distances and calling animals. Well worth a search here on KZread, there are several beautiful examples of it and even a pair of instruction videos.

Eivor is an amazing singer, song writer and producer. You should have a listen to Monster where the only instrument is her playing the kalimba!

Eivør Pálsdóttir pronounced [ˈaivœɹ ˈpɔlsˌdœʰtəɹ] So I guess that would be "Ay-Vur" But the Ei can be like Ay or Ey depending on what Nordic language and even dialect.

Hi from Brazil . If you want to hear Eivor's "special thing" try to listen: Eivør Pálsdóttir: Tròdlabùndin (Trøllabundin Live). It's in faroese but is unforgettable!

The “ei” diphthong in Faroese is pronounced like the English word “eye”. One interesting thing, though, is that the “ei” sound isn’t used in northernmost Faroese dialects. It’s replaced with the “oy” diphthong which is pronounced like the English “oi” in “oil”. Eivør speaks with a northern dialect, but only uses the “ei” in her name, and uses the “oy” replacement when she speaks and sings. :) “Ø” in Faroese is pronounced like the “o” in the English “worm”.

I would like to hear her sing in more registers and use more techniques - I like what I hear, but does she have have more to offer? Curious what else she can do. Nice head voice... First time hearing her!

She has jazz training, had a pop career when she was younger, does some pagan soundtrack stuff and she does folk music. She has a diverse set of skills

She does everything from jazz to rock and from soundtrack to pop. Recently she's been mainly doing pop, check out Patience from her newest album for the lower register for example. Her older track Í Tokuni sums up her more primal style pretty well. She's also the singer in The Last Kingdom soundtrack.
