Ex Metal Elitist Reacts to Eivor "Falling Free"

Музыка

• Eivør - Falling Free ...
At one point of my musical journey, I would of been considered an Elitist. I just liked what I liked. But as I've gotten older I've realized there's alot of great music out there, and I want to find it! Thank You for bearing with me on the beginning stages of this channel. Feel free to request any song.

Eivor is top notch! She - Eivør Pálsdóttir - known by the mononym, Eivør, is the 'act', not the band, and she collaborates with a number of different musicians. As her music suggests, she has worked on soundtracks, most recently and notably the Viking drama, The Last Kingdom.

aw, I love love love that you checked out Eivor, she is one of my all time favourite musicians. There's plenty of other great tunes out there where she flexes her vocal muscles. I think one of the most impressive ones is the theme tune of the TV show The Last Kingdom (amazing show as well btw, if you're into history or just great drama). She has some mind boggling throat singing/beat boxing techniques.

So your Nordic journey continues with a very rare Färöese singer. Her vocal ability you have seen now, and her range is kind of something... BUT she also has a lot of songs related to norse mythology outofwhich Trollabundin (Pronounced trodlabundin, because double l gives a dl sound) is by far the best. She sings that one in Färöese which is almost a language isolate preserving many structures from old norse. And she also does a spell there ( = Galdr, see english wikipedia) which is rather unique. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qaegj62Bd8iae84.html&ab_channel=1210beth ...and the scenery behind the "stage" is mindblowing ... also

This one of my favourite non-metal tracks. Eivor has such a primal sound that tugs at my soul haha. She is from the Faroe Islands, and she also writes/composes in her native language/tradition. This performance was filmed on the shores of Norway at a little hillside farm. It is a must see! Especially because she uses a traditional style of throat singing that is mind blowing! I even have a photograph from her and me after the show... 🥰 I have been lucky enough to see both live - her and Nightwish - at the end of last year in Germany. 😊❤ My older son introduced me to her with the song in her native language, it's called "Trollabundin"... but there is so much more to discover her music, believe me! 😇 So - keep on doing your wonderful reactions and take care. I don't know if you know this. But Eivør is from the lonely islands in the middle of the stormy North Sea in the Atlantic Ocean. The islands are called the Faroe Islands. The population of the Faroe Islands and that means also Eivør are direct descendants of the Vikings and of the Celts in Great Britain. The language Eivør often sings in is her Faroese language, which all Faroese on the Faroe Islands speak. It is the old Viking language which is the Faroese's first language, even though the Faroese can speak several languages. Of course, it sounds more authentic with the real Viking language when she sings about Vikings and Viking sagas. Eivør is a fantastic singer with a fantastic and unique voice, who unfortunately does not get the attention and likes on KZread that she deserves. She has so many great performances and songs that people on youtube should hear. Eivør sings in all seasons of The Last Kingdom and the film The Last Kingdom. She also sings in the Faroese/Viking language in The Last Kingdom and it gives the perfect effect to those watching The Last Kingdom when the Vikings arrive, attack, mourn, etc. Recommend Eivør to others on KZread so we can see more good reactions from good people on KZread.

Eivør is played on Radio Paradise a good bit, and I am familiar with her from there. I use RP as my day to day work radio. Susanne Sundfør has been an _essential_ part of my music rotation since discovering her completely randomly back in ~2010. I sometimes do music discovery by entering random terms into a music platform's search engine and listening to the search results. I had just been reminded of the existence of the sweet treat known as "Turkish delight," so I entered it into Grooveshark's search box on a whim, in an office building in Indiana. I've loved every Susanne Sundfør album since then. Absolutely her albums are a "desert island" pick for me.

another very interesting and underrated artist is composer, singer organist anna von hausswolff from sweden. she is a genre on her own, sometimes described as post metal. just grab your headphones and listen to the first three tracks of "death magic." or take one of her eerie music videos, for example "come wander with me" or "the mysterious vanishing of electra". live versions? here you go: "stranger" live, "funeral for my future children" live, "mountains crave" live. or you discover her very other side with "how many more of these?" or "they hoped for a name/delta sleep" and she runs the record lable pomperipossa records. her recent album "all thoughts fly" is an instrumental album, just a girl and a pipe organ. on her last tour some french fundamentalistic christs demonstrated against her and accused her for satanism (which is of course bullshit) and they blocked her and the audience from entering the venue, a catholic church. the concert was held a couple of days later in a protestantic church. anyway. absolute marvellous artist

Is Eivor the singer or a band? The first minute of the song I really wasn't into it but by the end of it I was really liking it.

Eivør is the first name of the lead singer. Her full name is Eivør Pálsdóttir. She also sometimes performs alone or with other musicians or great orchestras. She also does all the music, in the hit series "The Last Kingdom".

This has become an almost generic sound to me. Its nice, but also very genre safe. Aurora post -Bjørk meets radiohead. Its nice, but they all think they are reinventing the wheel. Slightly pretentious. I guess its just not for me.
