For some people, storm chasing is an adrenalin thing, like sky diving. But for most people, it's just that they love storms and meteorology. Chasing and spotting are a way that they can use their knowledge and interest to help others stay safe. I can't tell if you cut it off right at the kiss or if you kept watching for a bit, but if you keep watching, the camera continues to pull back for an ultra-wide shot and you can see the path of the tornado and just how huge it was.

I remember when this came out people were saying that the tornadoes were the most realistic sounding and maybe the most realistic portrayal of tornadoes in cinema. I feel like the cgi has overall really stood up over time.

Melissa is a therapist and can read the room pretty well. She is taking a realistic look at everything and is making the best decisions for everyone. The most important thing though is that all of that beef didn't go to waste.

people do it for adrenaline rush and because nature is huge and amazing - kind of the same reason a lot of miyazaki movies feel so grand. size is a marvel.

Fun fact: Jami Gertz, who plays Melissa, the fiance, is one of the wealthiest actors in the world, if not the wealthiest. Thpugh she has had a successful film and TV career (Twister, Less Than Zerom The Lost Boys, Sixteen Candles) in the 80s and 90s, her husband Tony Ressler is co-founder of Ares Management which owns the NBA team The Atlanta Hawks, and the MLB team The Milwaukee Brewers. So...she's worth around $8 BILLION as of 2024.

I saw this with my now ex-wife on opening day in an empty theater. The drive in movie scene made me jump when I saw the interference on the TV screen. My wife at the time asked me why I jumped. I let her know that the moving air and debris in a tornado creates an EMP type electromagnetic impulse that messes with TV and radio signals. I didn't tell her that the summer before I punched the core in a small tornado in my Jeep Wrangler. The radio made a rhythmical warble sound due to the interference and the wind hit us from one side, then the other as me and my nephew drove through it.

I love when the scariest thing in the movie is the jump cut to The Shining 😂😂😂

We all knew The Shining was coming back in this movie. It was more fun not to tell her.
