IMO, Twister is not only one of the more underrated disaster movies out there, but also one of the more underrated movies too. I love Paxton in this role. As someone who's lived through several tornadoes, the movie does have some inaccuracies but also has a lot of great science too.

As someone who has lived in Oklahoma all my life and experienced a tornado hitting my house in the middle of the night, the very beginning of this movie always gives me chills because of how similar it was to my experience. We didn't have a cellar, but we at least had a basement. Not sure I'd be here today if we didn't.

That was an amazing reaction! Thank you so much for watching this icon! Believe it or not, they actually interviewed 2 people who actually were in the middle of the tornado and survived. So everything Bill and Jo saw were exactly as the survivors described it. Helen Hunt has also been in these films: Quarterback Princess, based on true story about a girl being a kicker on all boys football team, and Soul Surfer, which based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton’s shark attack and overcoming her obstacles to get back in the water. 🌪

@@justinwoolsey4269 I recently just read that it’s sort of is a sequel to the idea of the tornadoes or a traumatize storm chaser. But they won’t be doing the Helen hunt and Bill Paxton daughter story. I guess probably because without Bill Paxton there’s no reason to play that storyline. Although I think they could’ve done it because it would’ve been honestly much more plausible along with the new storyline idea

My family was from Oklahoma and Kansas, right in the middle of Tornado Alley. My favorite aunt actually in Oklahoma actually looks just like the Aunt Meg character. I’m college my best friend and I were both photographers. We went storm chasing to try to get pictures of a tornado. The wind was so strong that it was blowing us all over the highway. We got pulled over by the police for suspicion of DUI. The officer didn’t believe us that we were sober until he gave us a breathalyzer test. Lol He told us to get our fool butts home

great reaction and review!, Ive been waiting for this on. Im a huge weather/tornado buff and this is one of my top 10 movies. to answer your questions.....oklahoma, texas, lousiana, arkansas, mississippi, tennesee, and alabama are "tornado alley" where the most tornados occure. in my state of mississippi we have the most tornado deaths and some of the most powerful tornados. tornados can range in size from 10-20 feet wide ( a rope torando), to 2 miles wide! ( a wall torando). wind speeds can range from 75MPH to 310MPH. the top of your house will come off at 110-130MPH. the most powerful tornados will pull the asphalt off of the street and totally destroy any building or house. torandos can last from 1 minute to over 3 hours with paths of 1 mile long to over 400 miles long.. Keep the vids coming!.

3 years after this movie came out I saw my first tornado and in Kent of all places. We were going down a country lane and every single car was all over the road and everyone was just watching it form in the distance. It touched down at the huge Antiques Fair at Detling, which we were heading to. 3000 people were there, but luckily no one was seriously hurt, but many tables were flipped. The two things that were the most ridiculous were putting little wings on the sensors. 300MPH wind is going to pick up and scatter anything it hits regardless if they have little whirlybirds or not. And the whole leather strap keeping them from being pulled into the tornado. F4/F5 tornados will rip apart and obliterate everything in their path, even a leather strap.

You two are wonderful people, you always brighten my day with your videos. I love this movie and have always been fascinated by tornadoes. I had my experience with one, if you look up the Dayton Ohio Memorial Day tornado of 2019. There were 21 reported tornadoes that day across the state. The one that hit too close to home for me was rated an F4. All I can say is devastation. The lightning in the begining of this film is a good illustration of that night in my memory. Before the tornado came I had never seen lightning so intense and frequent. I can't explain it, I stepped out on to our deck and the atmosphere had an ominous feel to it. I loved storms and am intrigued by them but that night I felt something in the air. Once I stepped back o to our house the local news reported a tornado emergency (there had been a reported tornado on the ground very close by). I got my family and pets to safety. We luckily didn't suffer much damage at all and most important we were unharmed. My heart went out to all the local families who lost their homes and all their belongings. Mother nature can be savage. Best wishes to you both.

Late to the party but: The tornadoes progress through the movie from EF0/1 when Jo’s truck gets picked up to the EF5 at the end. If you want to read some stuff on tornadoes: Wikipedia the 1997 Jarrell tornado, it was one of the strongest F5’s, the 1999 Bridge Creek/Moore tornado has the highest wind recorded on Earth at 301+ MPH, and the 2013 El Reno tornado, which was ~2.5 miles wide, and it killed 4 storm chasers. It was called the most dangerous tornado ever chased. On the whole, the movie is pretty fake, a decent F5 can twist a 10 story building off its foundation, so the fact of them strapping up and it passing over them is pretty funny. The dude who played Upham in Saving Private Ryan is the chaser Jo pulled out of the truck at the repair shop.

I love chasing tornadoes! (And that’s not a metaphor!🙃) I grew up in an extremely small town in Red River County in Texas that is at the Red River that divides Texas and Oklahoma. Yes, Oklahoma and that area are the belt buckle of the tornado belt. We had a trailer house that wasn’t tied down, so it was always a ride. Yes, tornadoes can be a mile wide eating everything and then it can just dissipate. Shuttle changes in wind and temperatures can change the direction it is going in, so they are always unpredictable. My Uncle raised chickens to get some money to feed his family. A tornado hit and sat directly above his little house and the tail made a circle around his house and plucked all the chickens! There wasn’t a feather left. Thank goodness the government disaster relief paid for everything he lost. Everyone in the family was safe. TRIVIA! - Did you know that tornadoes are invisible? All they are is rotating air/wind. When you see them like in this film, they are sucking up dirt and debris. That’s when you can see them. This was a Steven Spielberg film so of course the special effects are going to hold up to the test of time… except that tree. I didn’t even buy that when I saw it in the movie theater! While states like Tennessee, Alabama, and Missouri have a higher average tornado count since recorded tornado incidents started Oklahoma is well known for how frequently we get the monster tornadoes. Had a wind speed record breaker in 99' and tornado width record in 2013. In between we get more deadly tornadoes than most states. However lately the weather reports state that the tornado alley that has been over Oklahoma has actually shifted east as we are seeing less tornadoes annually. Edit: Tornado deaths are usually caused by debris and not the wind. If a tornado only had wind speed you have a chance of surviving a direct hit like the final scene. However tornadoes are full of debris. Usually shards of glass, dirt, and wood. The debris at 300 mph would absolutely annihilate you. That is what normally destroys houses. Debris opens up houses so the wind can basically implode the house turning it into more debris. C:

yes, they do have tornadoes in oklahoma, the state is part of the u.s. what is called `tornado alley'. there is also a part in the s.e. part of the u.s. that also gets tornadoes as well, which is called `dixie alley'. `tornado alley' has started to shift more easterly in the past few years.

In places where tornado dangers are a seasonal thing, a weather variation brought to you by the same forces that provide such seasonal issues as hurricanes and maybe flash floods, hurricanes etc. For tornados - a Yearly and Seasonal issue, which Actually enough tornados touching down and then damaging and destroying houses, crops and even whole towns... If it is a guaranty that Frequent dangers and weather devastation has made Tornado Alley --- why rebuild on the surface? If people hide in basements already, why not build to differently than say the Hobbit homes, like in The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) ? Underground could provide better protection from Wind Forces. Crops may or may not be a total loss, but if basements are better protection from the wind damages, and hell, if it touches down while sleeping! We're not moles who avoid the brighter levels of sunlight. If hiding underground provided for safety, would say Bilbo's home, built into hills that could maybe limit places from direct impact, Like Hills Wouldn't that a potentially safer for homes? Wouldn't that work?

I live in Oklahoma and yes tornado's happen here every year. Oklahoma is in what is called tornado alley. I have seen my fair share of them thankfully have not actually been in the middle of one, there is a destruction index that weather service goes by much like a volcanic eruption scale its based on wind strength and overall destructiveness of the tornado, starting with F1 to F5. Volcanic scale is 1 to 8 the higher the number the more destruction is caused. Welcome to Oklahoma!

I think you 2 are fun. And I enjoy your reactions. I have a list of great movies with actual dialog, not the mindless comedy trope, mostly shared by some other reactors. However, I'm hesitant to share some of them, as some are deep, emotional, thought provoking works. I do not intent to be rude or cruel. I'm a very emotionally reactive person. I get moved. I am moved to tears, often. But to actually sob, seems a bit over the top. I don't think I've ever seen anyone sob, so uncontrollably at a movie. Movies take my breath away. I am choked up by innocence and loss, by betrayal and unfairness. But I'm typically able to reigh in the heaving sobs when watching fictional characters in fictional tales. Again, I mean no insult or disrespect, it is simply confusing and often distracting. You are a lovely couple. I intend to continue watching your reactions. I'd LOVE to see you do some "based on true story" and historically based films. May I strongly suggest "Apollo 13" - Tom Hanks, Gary Sinese, Kevin Bacon. "Hidden Figures", - Teraji P Henson, Octavia Spenser, Janelle Monae, "Dead Man Walking" - Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn. "The Hours" - Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman. "Notes on a Scandal - Dame Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett. "Fracture" - Anthony Hopkins, Ryan Gosling. All three movies in the "Silence of the Lambs" series. "Both Kill Bill" films. EVERY Quinton Tarantino film. Thank you!

@Pop Culturally Challenged please accept this suggestion as a token of apology for my insensitive comment. Actor Tom Sizemore passed yesterday. He was a talented actor and troubled soul. Tom is best known for his many roles in mostly war dramas. But early in his career, he starred with Robert Downey Jr, Alfre Woodard, Kyra Sedgwick, Charles Grodin et al, in a movie called "Heart and Souls". This is one of the sweetest movies I've ever seen. Romance, comedy, drama, even a great score, etc. Be the first reaction channel to share this! You'll be glad you did! 🎬✌️

You live in a tornado active area, you DO NOT make that sort of lawn ornament! Jo has no common sense. I never got the point of the flashing lights and sirens on Dorothy. The tornado does not care. Noting will rip you up like the leaves on corn stalks as you run through them. They would not have been able to run through all that debris. Best line..."Who are these people?". The wind force can put a blade of straw through a utility pole. Not to mention what a 2 x 4 would do.
