It should be used as an example of how not to feed your baby! These babies were way too young for the food they're being fed. They're barely awake and not even able to sit up yet. Rice cereal watered down with formula or breast milk would have been better.

We are not promoting feeding babies sweet potatoes, but just a choice we made with our twins. I'm happy to report they were not harmed and are thriving 9 1/2 year olds today with fairly refined palletes.....one fond of calamari and veggies and the other favors chicken tikka and raw onions.

They are to small to start food. Besides their first food should be cereal , the mom thinks they are smackin yum yum. They are suckin the food because they want a bottle

Such cute babies. I wish you’d pay more attention to them than making a good video. One baby is content and the other is hungry and crying. Feed the hungry one and if the other one wants it, he’ll let you know. I hope these babies got a bottle afterwards. It would have been a big help if dad had held the hungry one’s hand so mom could feed him.

I think that these babies are too young yet for solids.

It’s a known fact that if u feed babies food before the age of 6 months, they r likely to develop food allergies. Find the book.

I also remembered starting with formula mixed with rice or oatmeal. I don't remember doing this that young.

It looks too thick. I was worried with them leaned back as well.

Do they sit up steady ? If not then brain is not ready to eat and digest and mouth to process this food etc etc .. you are hurrying ? You found milk boring or wanted to sleep more at nights ? I dont care whoever pediatrician said about this but he might be exception not the rule

I dont care how much food they eat they still want their milk from whatever source.

Your right I feed my babies food and when I see them rubbing their eyes I go get a small body to calm them down and it puts them to bed for the night. My mom would always says a baby will sleep better on a full tymmy

Omg it was too painful to watch this movie, I just can’t believe what I just watched. These babies are too young to eat that thick food, a baby on the left made sounds like she/he almost choked it and coughed which is really dangerous for the baby, and both of them don’t look happy what was going on with them at all. I really hope this parents found out they weren’t doing right.

I agree. I was mortified. But I wouldn't be surprised if her doctor told her to do that. I didn't start feeding my son until he was about 6 months and we started with baby rice cereal

There is a natural instincts to suck, why take that away. Sit baby up. Use common sense. Everyone wants to push babies to grow up to soon. It is sad and lazy.

I think they are too young and not sitting up so their swallowing is not to the point where they don’t choke when eating. Poor babies...

Hi Friends! Thank you for all of the friendly advice on here. =) I'm happy to report that our twins are still alive eight (nearly nine!) years later and extremely healthy young men. They actually have fairly refined palates and eat well balanced meals daily and almost never complain when I put a new meal in front of them Their current favorite is chicken tikka! I thought you did a great job by giving the babies solid l would have done the same exact thing. Maybe l would have put the solids in a bottle and made a bigger hole in the nipple of the bottle that's the only thing l can think of what l would have little different. Great Job Mom and Dad 👍👍👍🤗

YES! I'm so mad as I watch this. I'm sure the babies survived this ordeal (LOL) but my God, they were so little. I can't imagine their throats & digestive tracts were ready for this thick food.

The baby that Dad is referring to Aaron seems very hungry and I’m not sure the smaller twin has his swallowing mastered but for the first time with food they did good.

They do seem young but I got hell for starting this at 3 months..and btw the way, sweet patadies were a favourite in our house!!!♥️👍👍

I fed mine at 3 weeks and they thrived on cereal and bananas as my dr. said that was the easiest to digest...And the dr. gave his ok to do this...It was quite normal back in 69 and 1971..And remember these are preemies so are a lot older than people think...

Aaron just wants a damn bottle. No, he doesn't want more. Geeezz these babies are entirely too young. Smh

He was also frantic for food, like he was starving and ready for his bottle but instead they'd given him the potatoes. I'm not impressed with these parents at all.

Me too. I mean WTF? Why would you EVER feed a baby this thick food at that age?? They still just needed liquid. Even if mommy didn't have enough for the 2 of them, they needed formula.

When I was a baby, I was fed cereal at 2 weeks old. I thrived and survived. I'm 54 now. I think these kids lived and grew up just fine. Nothing to be so shocked about.

babies are 4th month old, so they're ready for solid food. This is the best video that treats newborn and feeding. Besides this babies are sweet and their parents are patient and lovely with their.

Also they should set the kids up more. Just give them a bottle. You must be new perants

I think they are too small to eat solid food. They cannot down the food in their throat.

How many month are they? Not sopost to eat solid food!

I think you both are doing a good job. It is important to keep your cool even if baby cries. Someone absolutely NEEDS to keep it together!

These boys are excepting this food well. Are they 3 months old?

I had twins first time sweet potato or what they really want is to nurse or get a bottle whichever you do.

Aaron looks chubbier than Owen - the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Something I didn't take into consideration is that these babies were born many weeks early and even though they look like they are 1 month old, they could be 4 months or more.

But their bodies are still bodies of 1-2-month-olds, and that's what counts, not how long they've been born but if they're bodies are matured enough to handle foods.

True. But they still might not be ready for solids at 4 months. They should be able to sit on their own and hold their head steady. Physically they will have trouble digesting food otherwise. Psychologically they act like they are too young. Well....I guess NOW they handle solids just fine😁

Very cute kids! I agree they seem a little young. I'm not telling you what to do but when my daughter grabbed a carrot and ate it, I knew she was ready. Yours are darling but still clueless.

The father could feed one and the mom the other.

That second twin needs to be first. When they cry because they are so hungry they can become colic and then NOBODY gets to rest. That is something they taught us in child development.

I am not a doctor and don’t know if they’re too young or not, but am confused as to why so many of the commenters are acting like they are no longer getting formula or breast milk in addition to solids. Solid food doesn’t mean they can no longer have milk!

This video is very old but wanted to comment anyway....I think there are varying opinions about when to feed based on info and dr each believe is correct. I see it as sort of a personal choice for the parent, using your child’s cues as a guide. My only question in regards to this video is why the mom times the feeding during a time one was obviously very sleepy and she began feeding the other while he actually was asleep. I do feel that is the bigger danger here.

Mom your doing a great job. Don't listen to those remarks.

It's not that we think they did not survive, it's that your judgement is lacking. The fact that you just can't say, damn I made a mistake that was careless, speaks volumes. I 99% of the time stick up for mom's and parental instinct but this is just stop too much. Unbelievable actually.

The reason some say it's to young and every doctor will tell you, 1) babies are not ready or equipped to eat solids. You take a great chance of them choking on the food, getting it stuck, and not allowing them to breath, and you may be unable to get the food loose enough to allow the baby the get air. 2) Their immune systems are not ready to fight off food allergies and they may become ill. At this age they need all the breast milk or formula they can get. That is what builds up the immune system. So it's not people being silly. And since my daughter-in-law is a pediatrician, I think I will listen to her .

In my reply I said babies. My response is for parents who are feeding newborns and up to 4 months. Not all babies in general.

I blame the Dr. He probably said based on weight that they need solid food. The one on the left clearly not ready wbile the bigger one seems to be closer to ready. They recommend formula thru the first year. Geez they dont want to eat yet do they?

THEY ARE STILL GETTING FORMULA!! You don't stop formula just because you've started semi-solid foods, you just don't give it to them during a feeding.........smh
