You should have a listen to Matt farah’s most recent podcast with Steve. The knowledge and passion he has is incredible; I learned so much about suspension setups just from listening. I’ve got an old 2000 E39 M5 that was heavily modified by Dinan back in the day, and it still holds up to this day.

Hoonigan needs to release an extended cut version of these videos where they can talk to the owners for like 15-30 minutes and really get into depth with what is done to the car and why they chose to go that route. Would love to hear Steve the original owner of Dinan explain everything about that bmw m8.

Based on just the drivers alone, this is definitely a Top 10 ThisVsThat in my opinion.

I had the pleasure of meeting Steve Dinan years back when he was visiting my city. It was a wonderful experience meeting this man; his kindness and knowledge are not common to find. Look forward to seeing what his new company has in store.

This did somehow just become one of my new favorite episodes. The last call for donuts, the sound of that Pontiac, the new m8 that they just skimmed over, not too mention its tuned by a legend who is back in the game to wreck shop!

I always enjoy these, but between Dinan's passion and the pure sound of that GTO, my cheeks hurt from a constant smile.

The launch on that m8 is crazy.

THAT was a GOOOOOD match-up! I knew the M8 was gonna drag the hell outta the GTO from a dig. However, I didn't think the roll races would be THAT entertaining! It makes sense, though... I'm pretty sure that gutted GTO is significantly lighter than the M8. That M8 weighs right at 4500 pounds.

Hes built and tuned 20 plus cars 4 me over the years, my new m5comp runs 1005 on stock tires. Its hilarious. Guy is so nice too. In 80s he would just send you parts and a bill weeks after. No one does that..

The designers at BMW did sooo well when making the 8-series. I'm so glad they didn't slap their shitty outrageous grills on it that are on practically every other model

i think they did a really good job modernizing the 90's 8 series into a cool looking powerfull sport luxury coupe.. unlike the new 4 series bmw which looks like it was designed by a french on steroids and cocaine

I'd also love to see that, but the Barra (and the SOHC 4 litre before it) aren't exactly fair against most other 6's, they are very much in the V8 league for torque and make almost all of it from idle. Might be a better race to put it against an LS/coyote/hemi

It really doesn't matter what he talks about, its always straight facts and I love it. And since all he talks about is car stuff, it makes for a really entertaining video anytime Hoonigan or The Smoking Tire or whoever get him on. He just drops knowledge bombs. He loves to share knowledge!

Last thing, Steve clearly knows drag racing, he seems like an information junkie. So, him saying he's never drag raced is probably accurate, but he's probably watched hundreds or thousands of hours of it. He's probably been at DINAN tests where they dragged cars, etc as well. You can be an expert on something without ever having done it, and that pre-training pays off. I've done it so many times, it always blows the minds of the people who hear it's your "first time"
