It’s time for an almighty Britain vs Germany DRAG RACE!
Mat’s lining up in the Bentley Continental GT, and he’s alongside the awesome BMW M8 Competition!
Now on the face of it, you might think it’ll be a walkover for the Bentley. With a 6-litre twin-turbo W12 under the bonnet, the Continental GT can deliver 660hp and 900Nm of torque. In comparison, the M8 is equipped with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that’s ‘only’ good for 625hp and 750Nm.
However, there’s a key difference between the two. Whereas the BMW tips the scales at 1,900kg, the Bentley weighs in at 2,200kg! So the question is, will that weight difference prove decisive over the quarter-mile?

The facelifted M8 is even better from the front. It has a light up grill too which is extremely tasteful! I first saw one at night and it looked amazing; not tacky like the Mercedes light up emblem.
Do more brake tests during sunsets, so we could see more glowing front brakes! Great sunset video, this one!

Wow, they are evenly-matched and it's probably all down to weight penalty. The natural wood grain dash in the Bentley is fabulous - I love it! Glowing front brake discs on the M8 looked really good too! One of your best drag race videos ever.
The M8 is such an underrated monster. Future classic for sure

All interiors are also the same. Mercedes has lost its charm a long time ago. BMW fucking sucks too with their designs and they're all butt ugly except for the 5 and 8 series but atleast they all look different.

@@GoLdenSkull92Depends on the dyno, but you’re right. I’ve seen 590-640 to the wheels on various dynos for a stock Comp spec S63TU3 in awd sport mode. For the Bentley to keep up the way it did weighing 700+ lbs more than the M8, its definitely underrated as well. Sucks that Mat didn’t launch at the same time for both races, the difference really compounds as the race goes on

I have a gt speed and trust me the beemer isn’t even close in comfort, luxury or style. Everywhere I go people wanna compliment the Bentley. And I can assure you that there’s not really anywhere on public roads that you are noticing .2 seconds over 1/4 mile. The 900nm torque is ridiculous. It’s so much fun just pulling away from 35 in 6th gear like a train whilst in pure luxury leaving the annoying Audi s3 up your ass like it’s standing still. Trust me it’s worth every penny it’s awesome! And I have been a beemer fan since being a kid, I’m not bias the Bentleys just awesome

I saw these two cars being drag raced by Richard Hammond and James May. The race took place in damped conditions. The m8 always won by a smidge and I was curious to see what would happen in a dry race

I will say that Bentley's W12 engine is one of the most interesting 12-cylinder engines I have heard~ Unlike any other 12 cylinder, but it's a very good engine

Great drag race between two of my favorite high-end cars. I really thought the BMW would be a little more ahead on all races, because of the weight difference and BMW knows how to get the most out of it's V8. I think an interesting comparison would be between a Bentley Continental GT Speed vs. BMW-Alpina B8!!! True luxury sport comparison!

I think its just simply a case of BMW underrating its M8. Fully expected the M8 to launch harder but the Continental to claw it back further on. Either bentley isnt making 660 or the m8 isnt making 625

This brings up a good video series idea, take the top spec highest in it range model vs the best bang for the buck model or fastest 0-60 model and do your usually drag races with them. Example (BMW do an m8 competition vs M3 comp. Or m2)
Finally! I wanted to know how M8 would fare against CGT. Ever since the M850i trashed the Bentley in Baku.
