Michael Jackson and Prince were not even in the same lane. MJ was pop. He really was never all that edgy nor could he really play any instruments. Prince was something above and beyond. He did what he wanted to do and refused to settle. He played all the instruments on his first album at age 18. The man was unmatched; writer, dancer, performer and sexy as hell. He was constantly pushing himself to do new and different things.

@@heatherstites1030 Michael Jackson could neither read or write music. His playing of instruments was rudimentary at best. He was not very proficient at it even though he is credited. he would sing each note to a musician who would then write it out properly. MJ was fine in his own right but he is no Prince! Prince was a master at his craft, Prince was once in a lifetime, Prince stands alone because no one else compares to him. I never understood why people compared MJ and Prince - it’s like comparing a perfectly cooked steak to scrambled eggs; they’re both food, yes, but they are totally not the same! 💜

PRINCE arguably had more influence on mainstream music - him, Stevie Wonder (and not necessarily in that order), and Michael Jackson.
So happy to see two young brothas discovering Prince--and a live performance at that! It's December so, if you do another Prince reaction this month, I might suggest you look up his 1984 B-side classic, "Another Lonely Christmas." It's not well known outside of the fan community but is unlike any other Christmas song you will hear. No video to it though. Remember that the vast majority of songs he recorded he also wrote the music and lyrics for. The lyrics are often (always, in my opinion) worth the read.

Recently the video from Prince's ahead-of-its-time international simulcast concert from 1985 was released by his estate to stream, temporarily. It seems to be gone now. But if you can find it you will LOVE it. Seeing Prince dance, sing, and kill it in guitar for hours (in heels and coats) is unlike any other concert experience you could ever have. See if there is still a copy of it floating around somewhere. You won't be disappointed. The things that man could do when he was working the stage...DAMN. His band was phenomenal, too.

@@TheOriginalGaiaXaia they're all great, brilliant artists. How many of them taught themselves how to play 27 instruments and wrote and performed every instrument in their music? All those artists were fucking great, one of a kind artists. But most of them were really only talented at one or two things..... Even Hillary Hahn has more single-talent ability than all those you mention above, but you probably don't even know who that is. It's not really a comparison when there isn't anyone to compare him to.

@@TheOriginalGaiaXaia where did I bring down others? Acknowledging a persons accolades and talent, does not equal saying everyone else is shit? You get triggered much when you wrote that response?
Omg please do an reaction to Prince Super Bowl Performance!!
You know, I have been sitting here thinking MJ or Prince and I am putting way too much energy into this. I don’t think you can compare anyone to MJ. Period. But as a musician..Prince is phenomenal. I think he’s the best guitar player since Hendrix. He plays multiple instruments. Princes style changed the world. I can’t choose.
Loving this so much
Prince has a whole Catalog of Awesome! 😎 Great songwriter, singer, performer, this particular song was written by Prince but was given to Sinead O’ Connor to perform.
You should check out ..sinade O’Connor’s version ..it’s breath taking x
That is a Hydraulic piano and is in the back sitting room of Paisley Park. The room just before you enter the sound stage.
Price!!! He discovered so many and wrote for so many!
This Prince song premiered with Sinead O’Connor singing and I have to say you haven’t heard this song until you hear her sing it. Prince is a genius and there’s no doubt he wrote it, but you’ve got to hear it’s original release version. Seriously, listen to it. 😍

No this song was done first by Prince's group called The Family in 1985. St. Paul Peterson was singing lead. O'Connor's version came out in 1990.
i think all versions are good, but the way Chris Cornell sings it, is my favorite- just pulls on your heartstrings❤💕

Actually he wrote the song for his girlfriend Susannah Melvoin who sang it was a group called the family which consisted of her and leftover members of the time. Sinead O'Connor re made it.

Thieves in the Temple! Yesssss!
Dang, I surely do miss me some Prince!
Never seen this video before. Sinead O'Conner got all the air play with this song. Go check out her channel.
They were both AMAZING PHENOMENAL and can’t compare to one another because they were BOTH the greatest of their times!
It broke me a little inside when this man passed away. I still feel like crying when I hear him sing❤️ it’s not just him it’s ALL the musicians he surrounded himself with. I love Purple Rain but much of his other music is so much deeper and beautiful. I can never compare MJ to Prince. They are 2 different people both unique in their own way. I prefer Prince, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love MJ. Still when Prince passed away... it hurt. I listened to him nearly everyday from early 80s well into 90s and beyond. I can still hear one of his songs that I haven’t heard since I was 14 and know every single lyric. When you grew up on Prince... Nothing Compares🥰
