Twin 459cc Mini Airboat Build, Houston We Have a Problem

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Build series of a twin engine mini airboat. Harbor Freight Predator Max Performance 459cc 15.8hp engines. 3-blade Ultra 1 propellors direct drive. Building the hull from .100" marine grade aluminum.
Finished and attempted to test run. Starting raining so I was only able to run for one minute. Back in the shop to relocate engine stand and reposition engines for larger props.
Putting Harbor Freight tools to the test. Vulcan 220 omnipro multi process welder and other HF tools.

You have done a fantastic job! Nothing to be sorry about. Like most things we build from the ground up they are things that we have to tweek. You will get it done I’m sure. Looks really nice!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When I saw the linkages between the rudders, I knew something was up. I felt like that wasn't going to last long. On the bright side you have the entire frame finished and the schematics set up so it shouldn't be too long before you get the boat working properly.

I made the rod too short, where that the rod end bearing wasn't threaded in enough plus I didn't lock the jam nut. They all will be rebuilt so that ot is threaded in more.

No discouragement! No need to move everything. Extend the hull by Boxing in behind the transom and make it a small tool storage area wit some diamond plate doors on top.

@@BoondockingCajunstyle yes Sr. That’s usually the way it goes. So many things to consider fabing a boat, especially with weight distribution and displacement. You almost got it whooped though, won’t be long and you’ll be flying across the water in it.

Just out of curiosity, why do you have the adjustment between the rudders? My airboat rudders are bolted to a solid bar. I dont see any reason to adjust them

Would adding ballast (lead) in the bow balance the boat easier than shifting everything?

I'm sorry I didn't see this comment. I do have several hundred pounds of lead. That maybe could help. These little boats are extremely weight sensitive. It is a lot of work to move everything but, it is something that needs to be done. Thank you for watching and commenting.
