Twenty years on, John Bolton is still defending the US's Iraq War | UpFront

John Bolton was a senior adviser to United States President George W Bush on matters of arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament in the lead-up to the US invasion of Iraq, 20 years ago.
Bolton, one of the strongest proponents for the war, repeatedly made the case that Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein was a threat not just to the United States but also to the wider world, pushing and amplifying claims about weapons of mass destruction and links to al-Qaeda.
But were these claims just pretexts used to forward the longtime objective of some in the Bush administration to overthrow Saddam? And how much dissenting evidence was ignored in the run-up to the war?
On UpFront, Marc Lamont Hill speaks to the Bush-era undersecretary of state for arms control and international affairs and later US ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton.

@@hamidhamidi3134 One reason is that Al Jazeera was a big supporter of the Arab spring (outside of Gulf states) and Gaddafi was actively attacking pro-democracy protestors on a large scale that was increasingly exponentially. The attacks on civilian protestors before the actual armed rebellion were so brutal that many high ranking Libyan military and political officials began resigning and condemned Gaddafi, some claling for foreign military intervention to overthrow him. In 2003 Iraq, Saddam was not attacking or threatening anybody, and for the most part was complying with all demands made by the international community, this is the key difference.

If you can't even entertain the possibility of him hiding them, then you are only interested in one side of the story. If you tell me you have a stash of money in your house, and I go to inspect 2 out of 3 rooms and conclude there is no money to be found in the house. Is that really a thorough inspection? Iraqis and Kuwaitis owed Americans their lives for the removal of Saddam regime today. Saddam Hussein was a brutal dictator whose hands were stained with blood of millions of innocent Iraqis aside from war crimes committed by his troops in Kuwait. Thankfully, justice was delivered to him and his henchmen. There’s nothing honorable about the legacy of Saddam Hussein for Iraqis today to reminisce and feel nostalgic about except traumatic events and memories of long endured suffering at the hands of Middle East’s most barbaric and ruthless dictatorship.

Why you think it's OK to destroy innocent people's life's because the citizens of Iraq were the once who suffered the most? The children, women, etc. They had to pay the ultimate cost..

If weapons inspector asked for more time, it meant they had no reason to assume Iraq didn’t have WMD’s. Saddam was refusing to let the inspectors in. Saddam had a toy gun but it looked real. They took him out.
