@@fearziel8622I felt that same way too, I found them when I was about 14, but I didn’t truly start to, I guess…obsess over them until I was about 17, and took a deep dive into their older stuff, especially Regional at Best and No Phun Intended

During their last tour, they played a sing-along video for this song for the audience to sing. Tyler and Josh didn't play anything, but it was quite a surreal experience with everyone singing to each other promising to "stay alive". Very beautiful song. Keep being awesome, Fil!

I traveled to Oklahoma to see them live, and that was one of the moments that has kept me alive, just because of how heartwarming it was.

Truce is one of those songs that I just wanted to tell people; “hang in there, you know, there’s someone out there who does know what you’re going through.” I know that there’s a lot of bands that say they want to use music to help people and I know a lot of that might be full of crap. But if someone is encouraged, at all, by the music that I write, then my whole life will be justified, so I mean I would be crazy not to try. -Tyler Joseph (from a Spotify special where he comments the songs on Vessel)

One of my biggest regrets is not going to this concert 😢

I think that this is one of the most emotional songs Tyler has ever written. Just the first few notes of this song, when played live, causes the audience to start sobbing. Many in the clique rely on this song to keep them going. It’s Tyler’s plea for people to hang on despite the dark moments when all seems hopeless. He will stay alive for us if we promise to stay alive for him. The night always ends.

I remember this coming out right before New Years, I was depressed sitting alone in my room because no one had invited me out to do anything or hangout, then this popped up and I cried tears of joy knowing I wasn’t alone

I just got a truce tattoo two weeks ago. I hope to add "stay alive" on an armband to finish the remainder of the sunrise tattoo

On the Trench tour they do this song towards the end of the show, except Tyler and Josh aren’t on stage and there’s no music. The audience sings it and they have the lyrics on the big screen.

Those two boys are so much more than a band.

There once was a time in my life when I welcomed death, but I was lucky and got appropriate help. However, those dark thoughts are always lurking and waiting for weak spots. When my dad died a few years ago, some of those thoughts began to make it past the wall I built. TØP music, including this song, honestly helped me defeat them and rebuild my defenses. I would love to have heard you elaborate more on your thoughts on this song, but I completely understand if it's too difficult. PURPOSE- you're right, finding one's purpose is absolutely essential in staying alive.

They played this at every show last year. They had a video on screen with the lyrics and we all sang it.

They didn't at the last show in Chicago. It was a shorter set, and even though the other 2 times I saw them the age range was wide, in Chicago it was 17 and up (unless accompanied by a parent) and the atmosphere was really different.

Such a beautiful and touching song. I also cried a bit, since i felt every word of the song. This song made me remember the first time i saw the official video of Hold onto memories from Disturbed. I felt the same way. Is amazing how music can heal and give us power when we need it the most and can help us heal our heart and soul wounds, and gives us clarity and pushes us to keep on going. Beautiful beautiful song. And indeed no words were needed in this reaction.

This has to be my favorite song by them, it has helped me to pass hard times and deal with anxiety. A year ago I went to the Bandito tour in Guadalajara, México and when they put the karaoke version and heard everyone sing it I felt SO alive, it was amazing. The feeling that someone that doesn’t know you but care so much about you, like this band, is unmatched. I loved this reaction, you said everything with your eyes.

Might be the most appropriate reaction to this song. It’s such an honest, vulnerable, beautiful, and important song. My personal reaction was emotional and touched by every word then played it on repeat for an hour I bet as I was going thru some bad days then and needed to hear this. When I say this song saved my life, I really mean it. I had never been open with anyone in my personal life about my struggles with mental health and hearing someone, anyone, say "stay alive for me" got me through some shit.

Because of this song (and all their music) I have the word “truce” tattooed on my wrist with a semicolon, and it’s basically a pact with myself that no matter how badly my own brain tortures me, or what terrible things life can bring, I’ll stay alive for those close to me. On the same day I got mine done, I paid for my mum to get a matching semicolon which was her first tattoo 🥰 This band definitely saved my life. There is so much gratitude in my heart for their music and for the experiences I had at their concerts, as well as an intimate rooftop show with just Tyler and his ukulele (he was about 6ft away from me singing, playing the ukulele and periodically joking with about 20-30 of us 😭) that my dad won tickets for through a radio station! My dad passed last year in March, but that is still one of the moments I cherish so much in my life and I’m incredibly lucky I got to spend it with him and I hope he knew how much it meant to me ❤️💔❤️ To everyone in the clique and anyone suffering: stay alive, please, i believe in you and you can do this x

That one word means everything

I’ll tell you something about this song. So as people told you that they play a karaoke version for people to sing along without them playing, one time they were singing and when the line “stay alive” came on, some girl yelled “i did” so loud, and everyone cheered her up immediately, it was such a great moment, now it has become a bit of a tradition for people to yell “we did it” in every show when this line comes on since then.

A very very good one.

When I see the impact of this song and the many others that Tyler has written that are straight from the heart and so genuine that help others make it through another day, it’s remarkable. My heart breaks for the constant darkness that he battles. “I will fear the night again. I hope I’m not my only friend.” 😿 But it makes me think of Ode to Sleep when he begs God to tell the dark voices/demons that he has no plans for him and that he’s insignificant so that they will leave him alone. But clearly that couldn’t be farther from the truth. His life and purpose is significant. He has found his love, his passion, and his purpose in his music. And by following that purpose so faithfully he has helped save countless lives. But it’s impossible to watch this without crying. Just the way Tyler performs it. Wow! what a powerful song of "purpose".

I always hate, but love, when they've played this one live. Gets ya every time. At the most recent Trench concerts they actually just had it as an intermission sing along. Was pretty cool to hear everyone in the arena singing it rather than the band.

I just love this reaction and the lack of explanation needed for it. Even though I always look forward to your thoughts, this was just spot on. You are amazing and I am so glad to have you do their videos time and time again.

I just heard this song for the first time yesterday on my way home from work on a bus, I almost started bawling. This time it got me.

This song gets to me. My youngest son got me hooked on 21 pilots. This song hurts, because his best friend lost his life to suicide at the age of 17. I knew the friend. Joked around a few times with him. I oft wonder if this song could have saved him. "Pictures of You" saved me.

I had the absolute privilege of seeing these guys in concert on Friday October 18, 2019 (2 days before my 29th birthday). I've been to a few concerts in my day, but I'll never attend another one quite like this...it was entirely surreal and the energy and love in the room was enough to make a grown man cry.... They put a singalong set of lyrics on the screen and played no instruments...it was only the entire crowd singing this to Tyler and Josh on stage while they humbly stood there in silence...I was in awe at one was taking place...people all around me that I felt closer to than nearly anyone in my life...these people got it. They understood the real me, underneath the mask. Stay alive, everyone. Even though it's impossibly difficult to see it in the darkness, the night will always come to an end

I listen to this song when I get home in the morning after a particularly rough night at work. It soothes me and reminds me that I can go to bed and get up and try again. Then I follow it with Trees to get out all the bad energy and then get off my sad ass and dance as it crescendos. I perform this ritual at leaat once a week and it helps me so much. I went to the concert held in Tampa in 2019. They played the sing-along version of this and everyone in the audience was leaning on each other and swaying. Someone in the pit which is the closest part to the stage screamed “WE MADE IT!!” After the second chorus. The whole crowd erupted and for the first time ever I felt like I was a part of something and that I mattered and I could make it another day. Their music is so powerful.

if i can suggest, you could react to a couple of their live songs from the Columbus dates, it’s their hometown and the crowd there is always one of the best, people travel from all over the world to assist at the hometown shows. (I highly suggest truce, leave the city and neon gravestones for the more melodic ones, and jumpsuit pet cheetah and heathens for something more upbeat)
